I only briefly had the iPhone 12 and it drained super fast. My oldest daughter has a 12 Pro and complains of fast draining. She came from an XR. My 12 Pro Max lasted a long time on a charge though. I think it’s a combination of the 5G modem being power hungry on 5G and some of the batteries being sub standard. Social media apps like Insta and FB and Reddit seem to put a strain on the battery according to my kids and husband. I don’t use social media apps so I don’t have those issues. Back in the day when I had FB it drained battery harshly.
FB and Instagram DEFINITELY suck battery.

They are probably running full processor chip speed and sucking as much data over cellular Wi-Fi as they can.

They are awful.

I only access FB through a browser (delete Messenger now for privacy and battery life), and Instagram I used to allow only sometimes throughout the day to reserve battery life, but I have it deleted on my phone too now (only access at home computer.

Google apps I don’t have except the Docs, and I don’t use it often (so don’t know about battery), but my spouse has gmail and is sucks her battery super quick.

I’m hoping the 5G modem in the 14 Pro Max is more efficient and won’t be as power hungry as in the 12 series. The 12 series were the first model with the 5G modem, so that’s saying something there. I do use social media but not too much 6 days out of the 7, due to my long work schedule. I have 1 day where I can browse social media as much as I want.

I do the same thing for my 12 Pro Max. I’ve been using low power mode 24/7 for a year now. I’ve been carrying a portable charger box everyday out of habit because of my job.
Dang! That’s bad. Really bad. My S22 Ultra eats battery kind of fast, too, but not like what you’re describing. (It’s less power hungry on Wi-Fi, thankfully).

Do you use MagSafe charging? I used MagSafe to charge the first few of the series 12 phones I had. (I had a bunch because I struggled with them). That would have been my first green 12 mini and then my regular 12 and 12 Pro. I kept the green 12 mini the longest. The battery health on it declined about 2 percent if I remember correctly and I had it about 8 months. My second mini with the non defective display was charged via plug in and I ran that phone a LOT more and the battery health didn’t decline. It also stayed charged all day which I thought was remarkable for a phone that small.

Now I have the SE 2022 which I use heavily. It’s also charged via Lightning and hasn’t lost any battery health percents. And it lasts all day on a charge.

I noticed my phones used to get super hot sometimes on MagSafe. But not all the time. I’m not sure what was going on there. I’ll have to check what’s going on with my daughter’s 12 Pro battery health. She stopped using MagSafe because she uses pop sockets.

I’ve been reading people’s conversations about battery life. A lot of people use MagSafe and say it didn’t impact their battery health. I’m just wondering if there wasn’t some bad battery batches out there. My first 12 Pro would occasionally run super hot. My regular 12 also did. 12 Pro Max and green 12 Mini had faulty displays that showed black as green in low light videos. My purple mini was the one that was flawless. But even that one, if the sunbeam hit it for even a second, would heat up so hot. My Android phones weren’t doing that. Putting in vapor chamber cooling was long overdue. I’m glad Apple finally is doing this and I hope it’s effective. I was dealing with excess heat as far back as my iPhone 7 Plus.

I only use the 5W brick that came with one of my old iPhones. I’ve never used MagSafe or wireless charging. My device is also still on iOS 14.1. It drain as bad as Wi-Fi, which I rarely use due to no reason at all. My phone do get hot and when it’s too hot, the screen dims low, so I leave it alone and let it cool down.

Yeet it out of your life! I wish you much better luck with the next iPhone!

What I want to know is what is wrong with the iPhone 6s battery? I had it replaced in 2018 when they had that replacement program and it seems to have just gotten even worst. Even when its not doing anything the battery goes from 100% to 38%. I use it as a backup and a more convenient option since holding my iPhone X for too long hurts.

What’s the battery health on it? Apple may have used a subpar battery for the replacement.

New iPhone soon to be released. And my old iPhone’s battery suddenly draining much more quickly than before and apps being slower. Same thing every year! This is hardly a coincidence. Anyone else noticed the same thing?

Nope, not happening now and has never happened to me before. I'd suggest it's either indeed a coincidence or in your head (or maybe you're just trying to create justification for buying a new iPhone, lol!).

I know that the design/chemistry of the battery in the 6 had a problem delivering enough power for extended periods and had a tendency to drop the voltage suddenly throwing off the charge estimate. That is why Apple added that CPU slowdown on those models when the battery age/capacity fell too much. Perhaps the 6s had the same battery issues.
