I knew it would be special and unlike anything out there.
If they deliver what they showed today, there will be huge waiting times for it, previously I said they would sell at least 5 mil units, I will revise that to 10 mil, after what I saw today, there is something in it for everyone 🫨
I was never in the market for this product, however, I may find it difficult not to buy it in the new year.
As to the price, well, you get a lot for $3500 not cheap, but it has a lot of use case scenarios.
At least a factor of 10 out there I think, low 100s of 1000s for this V1 would be my guess. They only managed to sell under 5 million Homepods and those were relatively cheap.

I'd get one if I could afford it! lol! I am impressed with the tech in this thing. Sure it has a battery back and looks bulky, but the potential of this is exciting. This is certainly a device that getting slimmer and lighter will make it even more appealing... and at some point a lower price. Glad to be alive to see the evolution of AR/VR. :)

I'm laughing at all of the comments here. I remember when the iPod was first released. Lots of similar comments, too expensive, doesn't do anything that anyone would want, stupid ugly design, what we already have works better, etc, etc. Meanwhile, Apple was on the way to becoming a multi-multi-billion dollar company by building an ecosystem on that device which early critics panned. This Apple Vision Pro thing may the start of Apple dominating a new market segment which millions and millions of people don't yet know that they will want to take part in.

I have questions

1. Who is the target group ? (those who want it, can't afford it, those who can afford it, don't want it)
2. What is the key-feature (use case) for this product ?

In its current state The product will not succeed. If it is 40% of the price and the hardware is smaller (not something that's doable right now), then it will sell like hotcakes.

I know a few who have bought the Oculus Quest, and when they have walked the line on the board above skyscrapers, it ends up on the shelf collecting dust.

As of right now, it's purely gimmick, nothing that this product can do, is simpler to do, than already available on much cheaper products.

Remember the 3D flatscreens ?, they only needed lightweight glasses, and nobody uses it anymore. Why?, because reasons :p

iPod marketing made the product a sales success, it was not the features and certainly not some ecosystem (whatever that word means). PMPs were a thing (and some had a scroll wheel design) before iPod became available but Americans didn't know they need them until Apple's clever advertising told them they will be hip if they have one. But then iPod Photo has evolved into UX masterpiece and it was all over for everybody else.

Tempted to go back to my old house that was built in the 60's and try out Apple Vision Pro.

It's a niche product(right now), which will eventaully get more mainstream once it isnt as bulky and as expensive like it is now. Remember the first laptops, how expensive and bulky they were, and really nobody used them outside movies.

Agreed. No one knows how this thing will turn out. The technology behind it is insanely good and hopefully it will be more affordable in the future.

During the live event i was estimating the price. Early i was at 1.5k. Later when they‘ve showed stuff you can do with it, i was at 2.5k. Then they showed all the sensors and chips, i expected it to be at 3.5k. So the price absolutely ok for this thing.

To all those saying this thing has no killer app…

The ecosystem IS the killer app. I was truly shocked to see that the only other device they integrated this with was the Mac. Feel like there’s potential for other device use cases (using the iPhone keyboard? Look at your Apple Watch and pull fitness stats, use your iPad as a keyboard or control surface).

But otherwise the fact that it’s familiar and will have all of your data synced via iCloud on day one makes this a massively more appealing device than something standalone like a Quest. At least for the vast majority of people who frequent this website.

"makes macs feel dated"

Yeah, go ahead and do a complete branding project for a new brand design using Illustrator and InDesign on these things... Or edit an entire wedding shoot... Or... These f people, man... lmfao
You can’t imagine using a keyboard and mouse to do any of these things you mentioned inside the headset? Your imagination must be pretty limited. I own a video production company and our entire team immediately saw the potential of having endless canvas space to work on their projects.

You must lack Vision 😉

Before he worked for Google he mostly focused on Apple. I still want to know how Cybart thinks people will use this in public. Does it have cellular? Will you need another data plan like you do with the Watch? And with a 2 hour battery life how much can you really do with it outside the home?
Yeah, because you know he did reviews on Apple products. That doesn’t make him a shill.

You realize there’s such a thing as a hotspot right? At least in the USA on some carriers we can use our iPhones for hotspots. It’s like having your own Wi-Fi wherever you go.

I don’t see this thing being used outside of the home very much. At least not in a setting where you’re walking. Maybe on a plane or sitting down at Starbucks.
