Same. My computer is one year old. I couldn't care less about new MacBooks. My Apple TV is SIX years old.
What are you expecting from a tv box that you can't right now? My ATV is from 2016, and the only reason for me te upgrade would be because of performance reasons, or if I would upgrade my tv to 4K. The biggest negative for me would be the actual ATV apps, they lack consistency in UI/UX (I have Apple TV+, Netflix, Disney)

It is interesting that apart from OSs, the only actual tech product launch this year was once again the iPhone and its accessory the Apple Watch. Eve then, nothing next level.

What’s going on?

Will see.

PS: It seams that Apple today is more driven to fight for control of devs revenues and the customer spending within a couple of their products than actually taking their products to the next level. Gotta pay those lawyers.

This is the best, most powerful M5 processor that Apple has ever released. It is truly the most complete fulfillment of Steve Jobs' vision for Apple processors. Apple can't wait to see the incredible things customers are able to do. Apple thinks you're gonna love them. Stay tuned for more surprises from the greatest pipeline ever....
This is the ONLY M5 processor Apple has EVER released and going by past form the LEAST powerful, sip the coolaid don't glug it down

I’m asking myself: Is it worth upgrading to an M5 MacBook Pro 14” from an M2 MacBook Air 15”?

For general web browsing, some (very light) photo editing and video game emulation (talking PS1, PS2, PS3 generation).

Given the amount of devices I already have I’m guessing the answer is a resounding no for me 😂

Wash rinse repeat. Also MacBook saves a guy from getting a heart attack or getting lost in the wilderness.

Man that 12 in iPad Pro would excel as streaming my bobs burger episodes. 😆

I’d love to get a second hand 2 tb MacBook Air. I’m kinda tired with using a hard drive for photo storage.

The fact that Apple isn’t allowing trade ins for M2 AVP really is concerning. It gives a message that not even Apple wants the device back. I get the feeling that Apple was forced to update AVP as 5nm chips such as M2 are winding down. Apple really needs to drop cash to get devs into the space. Looking at AVP App Store and it’s a sad state of affairs.

M5 iPad Pro feels like M4 v2 and that’s fine. It’s a really solid device.

New M5 MBP, that’s great. Gone are the days of Intel where we had to wait many years for new hardware.

Kind of hoping Apple holds back AppleTV and HomePod till next year and does a super Siri/Homekit event where they also announce their camera and screen HomePod.

I get the feeling we’ll see the tv and HomePod mini tomorrow though. Again, two devices that need to get away from 5nm but do they really need updates? It’d be nice to see Apple justify the new appletv by using AV1 decoder for near 4k Blu-ray movie streaming. AVS enthusiasts would go nuts. It’d put Kaleidascape and their $5k-$100k streaming boxes out of business. Otherwise it’s already fast enough.
I agree on the message - it is even more strange as the probability of someone giving back the M2 version to receive the M5 version is extremely low. It is mostly the same machine and nobody is using it to the extent to justify such a minor upgrade …

My original 14" M1 Pro base has 200GB/s memory bandwidth.

That’s the Pro, you’re comparing it now to a base. The M4 Pro has 273GB/s memory bandwidth, while the base M4 was only 120. So, it more than doubled to the Pro - so while you can’t guarantee you’ll be up over 400, the Pro always has smoked the base if you needed that bandwidth… and the Max seems to be 2x the Pro on that end. When the Pro becomes available, worry about it then.

Slightly faster CPU and GPU on an already ridiculously overpowered chip. A big more ram on an already overspecced solution and a bit faster storage (99% of the people wont notice).

Time to pick up a cheap M4 iPad Pro.

Thinking I might upgrade my Macbook pro M4, 16gb, 1Tb, nano texure display (bought in Jan 25) to the M5 24gb, 1tb nano display now instead of later.

I salary package my laptops (pre tax) in Australia and I don't think I can wait until May for the M5 pros.....

Would there be a massive improvement on the M5 over the M4? The most intensive stuff on my computer that I do is Adobe Lightroom Classic - importing, viewing, occasional editing of photos.
do you struggle doing any of that with the M4? lol i do lightroom and photoshop editing on a daily basis on my M1 Pro chip and dont have a single hiccup ..

Feel like if you have to ask then no, its just wanting new gear for the sake of wanting new gear.

Oh, 100% agree that for monitors there are now so many great options that it seems silly (to me anyway) to bother waiting then paying the premium for an Apple one. Sure they make some good monitors but there are so many other options.
check out the LG 32U990A it ships next week $1999

so another year for my ipad pro M1 that is mainly for watching netflix and others! i do like to downsize my Macbook M1 though to 14 but the design is the same. Maybe next year as well! (who cares 😀)

False! Because Apple has just released this M5 and this M5 only, it is the BEST, MOST POWERFUL M5 ever released. It takes the best-in-class MacBook Pro to a whole new level. And Apple didn’t stop there. The ALL NEW M5 MacBook Pro now features the N1 processor, a game-changing networking processor that only Apple can provide.

P.S. Smile a little and enjoy the lampooning. At least we didn’t have to sit through another pre-recorded announcement, full of the PR buzz phrases Apple likes to use, to get all the information on Apple’s latest iterations.

And even today the new Apple TV 4K hasn't been released...
I've lost hope now. Even Gurman doesn't know what to say anymore!

So M5 IPP has Wifi7 but not M5 Macbook Pro. I don’t see any reason for that besides another game played by Tim.
