What about the folks who really need to express how uninterested they are in the product? Can they make an appointment to go over that with a staff member? I guess it could be shorter than 25 minutes in that case, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Find a way to express this sentiment in t-shirt form and I’ll be your first customer!

They don’t need to. They just come onto MacRumors and complain like ten year old children like they always do.

It’s so weird to me that they’re going through all the effort of training employees to give these demos, and stocking hundreds of different prescription lenses in each store, to only give demos over a three-day period. Why not indefinitely, or every weekend for the next 6 months?
I’m wondering if it’s because they are expecting it to sell out (for a long period) after the first weekend. Sounds strange, but possible.

Would love to try this out but will take a long time before it is available outside US

Perhaps they can use the Apple "Friend bar"?

What happens after Feb 4? I hope apple switches to a demo by appointment system rather than first come first serve! 🤞

I also hope apple plans on keeping one or two demo units in their stores permanently so people can try them out after Feb 4 even if buyers have to wait until the next batch becomes available for pick up. 🤞

Random but I was actually wondering if there have ever been any long term studies to show if wearing a VR / AR Headset is potentially having a negative impact on your vision / brain. I am not even kidding.

I bought a Meta Quest 3 last week and I LOVE it but I felt like I was on drugs the whole weekend after playing or watching things for about 2 hours (with breaks) each day like it almost felt like I was standing besides me and not actually thinking straight (hard to explain). 1st I broke the key of the apartment door! then I forgot my wallet at a restaurant and 3rd I bumped our car into a stone, trying to park. It even got hard following my BFs conversations at times. Also, when I take it off and start using my iPhone, it's like the phone screen has some distorted effect to it. I cannot explain it but it feels like I am having out of body experiences when I take it off 😅 did not use it on Sunday and felt much better.

Until Apple enters a market or offers a feature, it’s “anything goes.” I’m certain that there will be a noticeable increase in articles, studies, and lawsuits regarding VR/AR devices. AirTag anyone?

I wonder if Apple tested these units with those with monocular vision (blind in one eye)?
I can't seem to find any info on that.
The presenter for one of the WWDC Vision Pro developer session videos had a vision issue where he couldn't coordinate both of his eyes together. He talked about several of the accessibility features.

Even someone with 2 perfectly working eyes could easily test monocular vision, though... just use an eyepatch while testing the headset.

He also claimed some Apple employees said their head hurt and was sweaty after a half hour of wearing. This thing is DOA outside of the Apple tech bubble.
Not necessarily. Lot of VR YouTubers have mentioned picking one up. They pick one up, others will be interested too. Despite the price - people buy things Apple. People pay 1,800-2,000 for an iPhone and $3,500 for a Mac.

People will buy this too. And if they don't, scalpers will. And people are crazy enough to buy it with price hikes.

I’m intrigued by this product, would like to try it. I’m sure the tech is incredible, but $3500 incredible? for something that most likely wouldn’t be a daily driver, is a large pill to swallow. I do see this as being a product that will sell out. Limited QTYS, Apple loyalists will swoop them up no matter if they can or can’t afford it and you’ll hear raving reviews from the likes of Justine and Marquis Brownlee etc, because cmon they rarely say anything negative about Apple. You’ll also have the short list of FOMO buyers that will purchase as well. Should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Yep!

People forget that the first iMac in 1984 at $2,495 (with 128K RAM and 7 1/2" B&W display) would come out to $7,500 in 2024 dollars.

OK so Apple techies and VR diehards.

Then, they will view immersive 3D content, including movie clips, sports, and a tightrope scene

the "Don't call it a VR headset" sets up demos with the same content every VR headset has ever done

Waiting to see the killer app, still not sure the use case that justifies the $3500+ Price

1) This demo is only going to work for people who don't need vision correction, or have near normal eyesight.
Incorrect, from the original source:
“If a person is wearing glasses, the stores will have a device to scan the lenses for prescription information. The system will provide those numbers, and stores will have hundreds of lenses on hand for demos. The employee then gathers all of those details, and another worker in the store’s back room assembles the demo Vision Pro with the correct accessories.”

Edit: someone already shared, disregard

You think they'll be able to come up with one for someone with both different levels of myopia and astigmatism, who also uses progressive lenses for distance & reading in one eye, but due to lens implant, needs only reading correction in the other eye? They'd need literally thousands of options.

If they don’t, someone else will.
Also, if I’m not mistaken, one of the accessibility features of the headset is being able to use it with only one eye, so…
There are solutions, and even if it’s not day one, there will be solutions.
I’m totally visually impaired, almost no vision at all, and I already know I’d be able to use the headset without any vision.
How do I know this? Because Apple has already confirmed it.
