Question: when at the "Preparing Update" phase, does wifi connectivity matter? Specifically, is the update already on the device so I could safely go run some errands with my device on me without jacking up the install? Thnx.

My iPad Pro started first and iPhone 11 second. The iPhone finished first, shortly after the iPad. Took about 8 mins

Yay!

I'd like to know that too

At this rate my TV may have installed the update before the iPhone finishes downloading and I’m too lazy to go upstairs and try the iPad.
my 4k apple tv downloaded and installed before all the others, iphone 11 pro just started updating.
what a pro

Well guys? didn't I tell you that the update would probably come out around 4PM EDT, or shortly after? It showed up here about 4 minutes after 4 PM EDT. My appleTV(s) are updated and my iPhone 7 plus is in the process. Was going to do the iPad, but space has gotten out of hand there so will restore and do a clean install.

Apple always makes me enjoy having that 200 Mbit/s connection at home. I really get the most out of every time I try updating or when downloading large quantities of files from iCloud or iTunes Match.

Still on 12.4.1 on my 6s and couldn’t be happier.. Will probably grab ios 14 when it comes out of beta in September 2021 under the name of 14.7.. Enjoy a year of beta testing guys
Enjoy you security vulnerabilities

Is anyone downloading for the  Watch ? It's taking much longer than usual for me . Over 2 hours remaining .

Oh damn I forgot. I believe I'll need to update my iMac to Catalina to back up my iPhone locally, if I update it to iOS 14. The thing is still on Mojave, because I had some software compatibility issues initially... and then never got around to moving to Catalina. I was hoping to just upgrade directly to Big Sur, but maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and upgrade to Catalina.
Ah, good, this is false.

There is an iTunes update available too for Mojave, which now supports iOS 14 devices. So, only iTunes needed to be updated, not all of macOS.
