There are several solutions to this - either users getting AppleCare+ or Apple redesign their cases alongside Arc Pulse minimalistic design.
Not really… 18 will be this year …next year would be 19 but they could perfectly skip it as the skept 9
Exactly. I was working at Geek Squad when these came out. I can’t tell you how many we sent out to have the screen replaced.

I’d love to see a ceramic band instead of metal, with the same finishes as Apple Watch Edition models. With a Series 12 in ceramic too. I don’t see either happening however.

Curved display? Sounds like an absolute nightmare for applying screen protectors.
And the edges of that display will end up curving down into the edge of its case, leading to an absolute magnet for crud (which will tend to scratch the screen).
I'll sit this one out and wait for a flat screen again. My past experiences with even gently curved screens were horrible. This looks even worse.

I would be tempted if, and only if, there is no cutout, otherwise I'm still very happy with my 15 Pro Max. As I recall there was only the "X" and then the design changed again to something less premium (or was there an "XS" too)? For the "XX" I wonder whether there will be just one or two models like this or whether this will be the design for the pro for the following few years, in which case maybe they will end up with this design and no cutout by 2028 or 2029 if it's not ready in 2027?
This is the most made up wishful thinking article. I’d be willing to bet most of the items listed here don’t even come on an iPhone in the next 5 years. Remember when they said we were going to have touch ID apple logo since notch, wrap around displays, not usb ports, under the screen touch id, and whatever the I want but doesn’t make sense folks want.

More glass to cover in a bigger case, all that design hidden as they make it out of more glass we don't want to break.
They still haven't figured out why so many people put a case on vs we just used iphone 3 as it came as it was tough.

Form over function, won't be able to fit a case on it and drop it, and Apple will charge you a grand to fix it.. nobody asked for curved screens, we've had them before years ago and the idea was rejected then. They look cool and that's it, foldable's are actually useful and what Apple should be concentrating more on.

I thought the time for curved displays had come and gone. Most people will bury it in a case anyway, without a doubt.
The new Z Fold 8 has me very excited to see Apples form factor as it's rumoured to be the same. When they make it water resistant have Face ID and wireless charging, and give it better cameras I'll take a look at it.
For Apple, there has to be a useful engineering reason why they would build a phone like this. The iPhone X, as an evolution of the 4 made perfect sense: brand new biometrics, minimum bezels. They dictated the industry standard for a second decade. Can they do it for a third?
We're entering an interesting phase of wider phone design. True, the slab is still king but we're seeing fringe models returning the QWERTY keyboard like the Clicks Communicator. A shift to shorter, squarer devices like the Fold8 and the Ikko Mind One. Foldables becomeing more mainstream. There is a very real push to try to evolve the slab.
I'm not quite sure what use a zero-bezel display actually offers beyond just looking cool. My fondest phone memories are easily the Galaxy S8 but the curved display really only let you summon a kind of sidebar of app shortcuts. It would be interesting if Apple try and push an alternate operating system paradigm to go with the new design. Perhaps something based on the idea of things all sitting 'around' the main display but always visible from the sides?

competitors have been hiding the camera and fingerprint sensor under the panel for the past 2 years, I wonder why in 2026 the iphone still has a dynamic island
I honestly don’t get who is actually bothered by the Dynamic Island or the notch. Who really pays attention to it while using their phone? It seems like it’s mostly the most hardcore tech enthusiasts who actually care about something like that. Why does it even matter? Especially if hiding it adds extra manufacturing costs and makes the phone more expensive what real benefit does that provide to the average user? Maybe it only matters to people who don’t actually use their phones, but just hold them in their hands and admire the design. That’d weird lol.

Really like the idea of this phone, but will be interesting to see how some practicalities play out...

- Cases in general. I've no experience with the Android curved phones, but now would they stay on? make use of magsafe?

Ugh just remove it already. Design of FaceID proved to be bad. Too much magic f***ery is too much. Touch ID was IDeal, and works any time as a huge plus. I guess modern Apple doesn’t know what is to be both practical and innovative. And innovation doesn’t measure in being able to fit thousands of infrared sensors under display
