I don't get the obsession with fast charging. Isn't battery lifespan inversely proportional to charge speed?

I'm using an old 7.5W Belkin charge stand and have never run out of time when charging the phone (I do it overnight).
When I’m out and use my phone all day, I need a quick recharge, they can go from 90 to 40 easily because i take a lot of videos and photos usually.

Couldn't you just plug in for a quick top-up? It's faster than wireless, and a simple USB cable takes up less room in the pocket than a wireless charger.

Almost every manufacturer packs a usb2 cable in the box. The vast majority of users will never use them for anything but charging. I bet you probably never transfer data over usb either.
Well, as a simple example, when I set up the new phone, I clone my old iPhone by creating a Mac backup. But the backup & restoration takes half an hour in each direction because some cheapskate enclosed a crippled cable with the phone... Duh.

So default adapter and cable fast charges the phone? What about if i want slow charging? Because that damn fast charging destroys my battery

I don't need fast charging most of the time but it can be very useful to be able to get a significant amount of usable battery life in a short amount of time when you really need it. As for battery health, I'd like to retain as much as possible but I don't think it's necessary to put any thought into charging habits in 2024, especially when you can just replace the battery for $99.
