You're good. The Wrangler is not a GM vehicle. It belongs to the Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM family run by Stellantis.
Yep, but I went Wrangler because I wanted a mid-sized SUV (with ride height). Previously my wife and I have loved using our (or my dad’s) Yukons and Terrains. For the Wrangler it came down to GM didn’t have any vehicles in the class, so it was Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, or 4Runner. The wife vetoed 4Runner since it’s been the same basic body style and features for over 14 years. This CarPlay mistake is yet another reason I’m upset at GM. Still, I love their user friendly, intuitive layouts. They have dials when cars need dials, buttons when they need buttons, etc. But I’m currently loving my Wrangler 4xe and may look to get the Recon for myself or the wife next year.

Really, all I care about is that they fix the annoying bug where CarPlay automatically activates the in-car mic, thinking you invoked Siri when you didn't. It happens consistently in the first few minutes after plugging in, and it doesn't seem to matter model/make of car, because it's been happening regardless of what vehicle I'm in.

It's at the point where I'm plugging my phone into my car less and less.
I have been using CarPlay (wired and now wirelessly) in my VWs the last 5 years, and have literally never had that happen…

I completely agree, that’s why I don’t pay for it and rely on Google Maps on the console screen instead. What I’m getting at is that Audi won’t give up that driver’s display for free to CarPlay.
If they care about their user experience they will. User experience sells vehicles and is bringing lower end cars with lesser build quality into competition with higher end cars. I agree with your point, hopefully Audi Engineers see that! Market research has an ability to smear usability into cognitive dissonance.

I’ve never had this happen once, and never heard it reported as an issue before this.

I *really* wish Tesla would change their mind about CarPlay. It's the one "stickler" that I don't like about my car. I'm looking at aftermarket solutions that would solve this ONE hole in an otherwise fantastic car (bought my Model 3 five years ago). If I can solve that issue for $1,000 or less, installed, then the fact that Tesla doesn't offer it becomes a non-issue.
I’ve been using Carlinkit’s T2C in my Tesla since December and it’s been doing a great job so far. And every firmware update keeps making it better. I got mine for $99 through Amazon for the easy return policy in case I didn’t like it

I just hope we'll have the option to not have CarPlay take over a vehicle's entire dashboard when the next-gen version finally hits. I've written this before elsewhere, but I can't imagine shelling out a lot of money for a vehicle only to have the dash display revert to how some Apple geek thinks it should look. An Apple geek who probably doesn't even drive. The one preview image we keep seeing is hideous from a driver's perspective. I would want to keep CarPlay confined to one panel.

And I am of the other opinion. I have never had an infotainment system in any car I really liked (Oldsmobile, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Volvo, Lexus, Toyota, and VW.) The best I have seen was Volvo’s in the XC90.

I love the configuration options we will get with the new ACP - something the car manufacturers will never come up with. I am not saying that all buttons and dials need to be replaced, and I will want to maintain the physical interaction on the steering wheel, but make voice control dependable and I am all in.

I guess what I am really saying is, give me choice. If I want the old fashioned setup, let me choose that. If I want a more configurable and modern interface, let me choose that. Do not lock it down - that will only make me find a car manufacturer that give me options…

Exactly. Give us the choice.

I know where my next car will come from; Audi, Ford, Honda, Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Polestar, or Volvo. I ruled out GM, Rivian, and Tesla because of their decisions to drop/not work with Apple CarPlay.

Probably not coincidental that there are lots of other reasons to go with those companies and not with the latter three.

I actually really like the Rivian, it was actually my 1st choice, until they decided to not implement ACP in their EVs.

I'm not buying a new car until it has Next-Gen Carplay and Apple Digital Car Key with UWB
I am in the same boat...

I want an SUV EV, but the ones I am interested in do not even support ACP. Rivian - nope. Fisker - nope. GM/Hummer - nope... WTF?

I have one to activate wireless CarPlay. My suv have a wireless charging pad but no wireless CarPlay, which isn’t a dealbreaker for me.
