I try to stay at least 1 year behind every iOS upgrade so for me it's time to finally update to iOS 18. :D
Did that one time when iOS 13 was hot mess, stayed on iOS 12 for a long time.

Will actually wait till 2026 to install 2026 software, I’m not interested in the latest beta release candidate.

YES! Oh my God, having to click on 3 different things to close a tab or add a bookmark is horrible. Why, Apple, Why?

wtf? I just switched to Safari recently and love it. 3 clicks to close a tab? What is the added touch? As of now you can hold down on the two squares button and then tap "Close this tab." Or tap the squares and then tap the X on the tab you want to close.

This will be the first time in several years that I haven't updated my devices on release day. I'm just not a fan of the new design.
Me, too. I’ll keep 26 on my old iPad to observe its development, however, all daily drivers in the household will remain on 18 for now. Not a hater—I’m a stockholder!—I just don’t care for the frost and bubbles. The “reduce transparency” option in the iPad RC is better, almost sufficient.

Good luck, y’all.

Today's the day. Apple is about to release iOS 26, which will deliver the biggest redesign since iOS 7 and bring a range of new features and improvements to iPhones worldwide. It's Apple's biggest software update of the year, and Apple announced at last week's iPhone event that it will be releasing iOS 26 sometime today – Monday, September 15.

Based on past releases, the update is likely to drop at around 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time/1:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Apple's own websites for countries around the world also suggest a 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time release, with Apple's site for India listing a September 15 launch while the company's Indonesian page lists a September 16 release, pointing to a narrow window around 10:00 a.m. Pacific to line up with time zone differences.

To give iPhone users globally an idea of when iOS 26 should become available as an over-the-air update, we've compiled the below list of time zone conversions for several countries. Be Prepared to Wait

When iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 become available as an over-the-air update, make sure your device is fully charged before you start the process over Wi-Fi, as it may take some time to complete. To check that the update is available, go to Settings ➝ General ➝ Software Update, and wait a moment for your device to contact Apple's servers. If you're in no rush, you can wait for iOS 26 to be delivered to your iPhone when you next plug it into your computer.
On that note, a word of caution: During the initial rollout of major software updates like iOS 26, Apple users may experience slower download speeds and sluggish performance when trying to update their devices. This is largely due to the high demand on Apple's servers, as millions of users worldwide attempt to download the update simultaneously.

The surge in traffic can overwhelm network capacity, leading to delays in downloading or installing the update. To avoid these potential issues, you may want to wait a day or two before installing the update, allowing server congestion to subside and ensuring a smoother upgrade experience.

I will upgrade my iPhone and iPad but leave the MacBook till we see what works or doesn't. Seems with every major update some programs no longer work.

I am going to wait and download iOS 18.7. I really can't afford to have my iPhone connect to my car or router or something like that. I will have to upgrade to iOS 26 when my iPhone 17 gets here in about three weeks. I do think that I will download iOS 26 to my iPad as it is not essential. Definitely not the new Mac OS either.

I have mastered the technique for downgrading an iPad or iPhone—as long as the older version is still signed. Downgrading a MacOS device is more complex, so I haven’t even looked at it. It’s said that downgrading a Watch is impossible.

I hope that 26.4 is good enough.

Ha!! The iPad will be the sacrificial lamb today. Most tester say that iOS 26 is still a hot mess.

Shouldn’t be a problem as...
Waiting for the public non-beta release of iOS 18.7.
Except for my MBP, which I’ve decided to use as a test bed for the “26” versions (namely macOS and Xcode), I’ll be holding off installing until 26.1 or 26.2, perhaps even 26.3.

Cursed here. I usually wait this out until a .1 release but I'm picking up an iPhone 17 pro on Saturday which will have iOS 26 on it and I'm without unmetered internet for a few days as of tomorrow so I've got to update absolutely everything I and my family own tonight for the device hand me down session which is quite a pile of kit.

Hope the hell it all works!
Hardware (i.e., device) upgrades/replacements can do that. I encountered a similar situation when getting the iPhone 15 PM. I figured, if one (regularly used) device is on the latest, might as well do the others and have things in sync. So, I dove into iOS/iPadOS 17, macOS 14 a few days after launch.

When macOS 15, iOS/iPadOS 18, etc came around, I went back to waiting until x.2 dropped.

I’ve been using iPadOS 26 since developer 1 on an iPad 9th gen and it’s not that bad, especially with “reduce transparency” selected. 26 isn’t going to burn down the AAPL house. I’m just exercising choice.

In India, that would likely be 10:30 (or 9:30) AM PST? India has a half-hour shift difference from us in the States. At least in the cities I've visited (everywhere but the Northeastern part of the country).

About a week ago I decided to install the public beta to get a feel for iOS 26 and today I downgraded back to iOS 18 because imo iOS 26 is a mistake.
The design and feel is very non Apple, poor legibility and general feel doesn’t feel right.

iOS 18 feels faster, more mature, polished and shouldn’t drain my battery like iOS 26 did.
Battery drain from distracting, horrible HCI UX, and meaningless bling (for some) is my biggest concern. Did you try turning on accessibility options to reduce transparency, etc to see if that lowers the battery draining gratuitous design?
