This is the reason you have a contacts app:

If you are actively engaged in a phone call and you want to ADD or MODIFY a new/current contact, you can NOT do this by hitting the contact button thru the phone app. You can ONLY add or edit a contact, when engaged during a phone call, by hitting the contact APP.

It would roll like this:

You: *ring* *ring*
Me: hello?
You: hey, what up?
Me: nada, you?
You: you hear Angela got a new phone number and email address after she broke up with you?
Me: NO! What is it!?!?
You: I’m not tellin’…….she broke up with you…..you’ll just stalk her.
Me: no I wont……tell me!
You: ok, just don’t tell her I told you…….555-555-5555 and ‘bigbootyho@wonderland.com’
Me: thanks

See, now I couldn’t have updated her info through the Phone/contact……..I had to use the Contacts App for this.

With a phone number and email address like that, I'm pretty sure I could have remembered it. d-:

Angela is quite the ho, though. (Don't tell her I said that.)

Seriously though, that's a good find, WhySoSerious. I hope they add the ability to the regular Phone>Contacts method, as I've hidden my Contacts application.

Hoe?

Wouldn't that make her new boyfriend, as Sweet Daddy D calls it, a Player In a Management Position?

BL.

That finally makes sense, I had a situation come up like that this weekend. I did it the old school way, I kept saying the number out loud until I hung up. Went to contacts and started typing the number in and I got the last 4 digits twisted. Then I was mad when I called and they didn't answer.

I don't think it's the reason that a Contacts app was added to the OS. I don't think that the folks in development came up with the Contacts app just for this particular reason. I just think that, for now, it's the only way to edit contact info while on a call.

Remember, the Contacts app didn't exist for the first year or so of the iPhone.

So, wait...I didn't test this while in the Apple Store, but if you're in a call (let's say on Speakerphone), can you hit the home button and do stuff on the rest of the phone while in the call?

good example.

I wish they would have just added the ability to add it from the "Phone" app rather than create a separate icon for it. Oh well.

Hey, remember this conversational topic.....well, it appears it's been corrected.

I called my iPhone from my work phone and sure enough, I hit the contact BUTTON (NOT the contact APP) within the call itself and it now allows me to add/edit new or existing contacts.

So, with that said, maybe apple should just remove the entire contact APP from our phones. It servers NO purpose now.

*others try it out and verify that what I'm saying is accurate*

Thanks
