Yeah yeah yeah. And I couldn't care less about your passive aggressive projection. Tonight I've been able to do some work using my 2017 low spec macbook air, so that's a relief. The REASON I use Macs is because they used to "just work". That era seem to have passed. If I can't even install the latest update of Ableton Live on a new top of the line macbook pro and expect everything to run smoothly, there's no reason for creative professionals to use macs anymore imo. I don't really mind fine tuning a PC if I have to. But that is the reason we used to buy macs, so we didn't have to do that ****.

I get what you're saying. And I obviously push my machines a lot over long amounts of time. But I actually can do work on my 2017 macbook air without fan noise ruining my recordings. It is what it is. I'm just gonna return it the new macbook pro.

Yeah, it's the standard 560X. No external monitor.

I'm strongly considering going PC now, so I'll check out the Zenbook. If things doesn't "just work" with macs any longer I might as well spend time setting up a PC properly instead of overpaying for a mac.

We have a comedian here boys. The cringe is strong with this one.

I'm guessing you already tried it. You'd be surprised how often that's all that's needed. Had an issue with battery and just restarting the thing fixed it.

I think it would really be worth the time to download Malwarebytes, and do a quick scan. It's free to use. You do want to eliminate possible malware. It's a known issue within the last month or so, and absolutely affects Ableton Live install downloads.
Yes, I know you already said you got that from legitimate source - but a quick malware scan will either hit on something, or make you feel more comfortable with a clean scan.

I’m not sure you know what passive aggressive means.

Have fun being salty.

Peace!

Nerds. I need some guidance here. Today I received in the mail a lovely MacBook Pro 2.3GHz i9 with 16 GB ram and 1 TB HD. I bought it for music production and installed Ableton Live 10 Suite and Cubase Pro 10 as fast as I got it. But this machine is so hot and the fans are going off much more than my MacBook Air 2017 ever did. I mean, 1 track in Ableton Live and I can almost cook an egg on this thing. And the fans are screaming like a bitter vacuum cleaner.

There have to be something wrong here. Even just surfing the web on youtube, twitter etc it's almost hurts putting my hands on the metal of the machine. The CPU doesn't even hit 5%, but this baby is screaming like it's about to die. I'm so confused right now. I thought that a high spec MacBook Pro would be cold as ice with no CPU intensive tasks. What's going on here?
Take it in to the apple store and show them what it is doing. Of course they will swap it out if it's performance is as wonky as you say. 'Cause that track amount should be really high for the thing.

So I'll take a step back here and compare my 2017 MBP running the same type of software as my new 2019. I didn't think about the GPU so this will be a gap in my assessment.

If you are running a software that is demanding on your CPU (lots of maths), that might be a culprit of the heat. I believe, anecdotally, that Adobe Premiere runs really hot when it is humming along (thought this might be using the GPU).

Is the software optimized for the latest and great MacOS? (I don't know, might be worth researching)
Is there a graphic intensive aspect of this software? GDDR will always run hotter than HMB... it's why I chose the Vega card, for the lower wattage needs (as far as the internet has told me).

Are you running the same version of OS X on both the machines you are using? Also, you can fire up activity monitor and take a look at CPU usage. My machine does run hot when hitting it with heavy loads... but that is expected...

Finally, there will always be a subjective ingredient that can't be communicated (and why the friction you might be feeling with posters). For you, the fans are loud, the heat is a lot... for others, this is expected.... etc.

If the machine is not meeting your needs and you are within the return window, I would use it. You may need to consider a beefier platform or even a cooling pad...

Hope all turns out well.

I received my new MacBook Pro 2.3 / 32GB / Vega 20 and it gets really hot on the metal plate above the touchbar. Is this what others are also experiencing ?
