It's just a voice activated Google search

Really? Can a Google search set meetings on my calendar? Can a Google search play a specific song on my iPhone? Can a Google search schedule reminders and alarm clocks? Can a Google search text and read text for me? Hmm...try again.

Also, can a Google search send a Tweet for me? Nope :p

Yes, the 6 does have this feature. It just has to be plugged in. That was the one change for Hey Siri from the 6 to 6S. Hey Siri works without being plugged in on the 6S ONLY.

Unless your 6 is jailbroken.

The difference is how it does it. The 6 uses the full CPU to listen where the "S" version do it with a separate lower powered circuit which is why it does well without being plugged in. I have had mine activated from day one and see no difference in battery at the end of the day.

Around 25% is not what I would call much higher. I also have is set to only switch to always on when the phone is connected to the Bluetooth in my car. As soon as the Bluetooth connection disconnects is switches back to normal. The test I did was leaving it over night with it on and then the next night off. Over a 10 hour night the battery dropped by 6% as opposed to just under 5% with it on. Each of them was from just after the battery % dropped to 80% after a full charge.

Except the proper Apple version on the 6s uses nothing like what you are experiencing with your jailbreak hack, I've been using it (it's continuously active) and over almost 2 days it's used 1%.

That is odd because I tried it off today and my 6s used while sat on my table used 3% battery which is a lot less than normal.

You say the proper Apple version, what would you call the version that was on the 6 while plugged in to the power? Yes I know it is different now.

I just today found out as well that when you turn it off(6s) and you turn it back on you have to let it learn your voice again, how stupid is that. Sometimes I think the people at Apple are just plain dumb.

Have 6s Plus and have Siri on all times including when screen off. Works great, only responds to my voice and I don't notice any battery drain issues. Here is last screen shot befor I charged. Am very happy with battery life. I do a lot of Apple Music listening, from iCloud.

how are you guys getting 16 hours usage and 58 hours standby? I get closer to maybe 10 hours usage and 20 hours standby one day I had 5 hours 36 minutes usage and 10 hours 48 minutes standby and 50% and that was my best day

I've been working all day and haven't really used my phone much but for a little over 12 hours and only lost 10%.... I'll take it!

Proper Apple version of always on Siri on the iPhone 6s versus the hack used on jailbroken iPhone 6 handsets.

The iPhone 6 does not have the proper Apple version of always on Siri, so I can't call it anything.

I am getting that by being on wifi 85% of time. Uses less power than LTE. Second I stream a lot of Apple Music from cloud so numbers are higher as it registers as on time but screen is off. Check out the details below the Music times, shows screen on time as well as standby time with the scream off.

I have turned off items like background updates, automatic app updates, background notifications, screen motion. I do have transparency on as well as Siri including activation when phone is off. This does not appear to use too much juice and I find it way handy for random questions I ask it.

I am currently running another charge use cycle, this time using more on screen time and less music. I will post those results.

I did let the phone cycle down to self shutoff then Charged to 100% leaving charger on for an hour after reaching 100%. This loads battery to max allowed by charging program. Does NOT condition the battery. This is false info. It does however calibrate the software so the % readings use the full charge range. After that I did reboot the phone use the home and on/off button at same time. This cleans out any stray code still running that might suck power.

Last big thing is I don't have Facebook, Instagram apps. These have been shown to suck power big Time even when phone screen is off as radio is used several times a minute. If you are on LTE in low reception area and these calls are made, you can watch battery level drop rapidly and even phone get hot.

That's all I can think of at moment. Oh and I have screen set manual at about 20% unless I am outside. Auto screen level seems to use more power than setting manual. Which is easy from pull up menu.

Google search comes with free tracking software. For no additional cost, all your requests are recorded and sold to advertisers and companies wanting to know what you look at, so they can help you with targeted ads. Unfortunately Siri searches process within your phone and don't pass this info on to outside world. So Siri isn't quite as good as Google search.

Every jailbreak comes with a free Chinese malware download at no additional cost.

The features just keep rolling in. Go China!!!

Who told you that load of crap? One of the biggest malware of late came from the Apple app store itself. Yes if you download unknown repos you are asking for trouble.

People that are ignorant to jailbreaking or that believe everything they are told often make those mistakes. I couldn't use an non jailbroken iPhone because not only is it boring but also so limited. Hence the reason I didn't sell my 6 yet because I use it every day.

Luckily Apple are learning from jailbreak tweaks and implementing more of them in there iOS.

I'm not going to jailbreak and give up the security the that Apple has built into iOS. And if you want to talk about the recent App Store malware problem at least tell the whole story. The fact that stupid Chinese developers downloaded x code from non Apple secure servers because they didn't want to wait. If they followed Apple prescribed protocols they would not have introduced the malware. This clearly shows greater risk in bypassing the security Apple phones are famous for.

This in no way supports jailbreaking which at best is taking definite risks by bypassing built in safeguards to the bios. Because a condom breaks once in a while is not an argument to not use them. Not jumping off buildings with a parachute is boring, but you have not convinced me to do that either. And yes I definitely believe a jail broken phone is more at risk for malware. That much I do believe, and it's not a mistake.

Hmm that makes sense. I do have facebook and I have quite a few apps that send notifications. I should go through and turn a lot of those notifications off that I don't need or use. I also have mail set to push notifications, I might change that to once every 5 minutes cause I don't check my mail that often anyway.

I have mail set to 15 minutes. It automatically updates when you open mail anyways. Take a look at your system services. 90% of things in there can be turned off, they use a lot of Juice. Sleeping phones can be very busy sending and receiving data over wifi, LTE, and the gps location uses big amounts of power. Turn that off for apps it doesn't make sense to you. Who cares if game app sends your location.

System services I am confused about, there are a lot of things in there under location services that I am not sure what they do or why they need my location?

Yeah, would there be a link to a list of System Services explanations and what people typically can be safe turning off?

I read a couple articles that talked about each item in system services. I am uninterested in things like what shops are near my location. And don't want my location going out for ads. I don't change time zone daily so why have time one on. I do want find my phone and sharing location with family. Have never used compass so don't have that on. Here is how I have mine set.

Gps uses a lot of power and having all these various service turned on means the phone is constantly checking gps for each feature. Try them off, if you don't miss the functionality, you weren't benefiting from them anyways.

Wouldn't routing and traffic be nice to have on for when using maps? Also I guess I don't understand what wifi networking and cell networking search would use it for?

Google system services and battery life, read about each one. Then decide if you want them or not. Don't assume anything from title of feature. Many assist others more than you. Turning traffic off does not eliminate the traffic showing in maps. It stops the phone from suggesting alternate routes and advising you of traffic on your regular drives like going to and from work. It learns what you do and will tell you like traffic is bad you may want to leave early. If you want that leave it on. Experiment. There is no right or wrong here. Apple is giving each of us a chance to decide what is useful and what isn't. By default these are on. But in agragate they consume lot's of battery.

Like cell networking and wifi networking can drain battery big time. If on as you drive your phone actively searches for wifi sites and cell sights trying to find best ones. How many wifi sites you think you pass driving to work? Sending and receiving this stuff keeps your radios and gps running constantly. What good is it doing you?
Maybe NSA likes it cus better to track you with. Does nothing for my daily commute.

Best advise is to go through all layers of settings and research to understand what each does and decide if you want it on or off. There is a lot of stuff going on even when phone is asleep. With settings I have I don't see even a 1% drop overnight when phone is asleep and not charging. I put it to bed at 100%. Wake up and still at 100%. I don't see a drop to 99% for a good 30 to 40 minutes.

I just turned everything off except for find my iphone, motion and calibration, and share my location. We will see how that affects battery life. By the looks of it cell network search, compass calibration (never use the compass), location based alerts, safari & spotlight suggestions, setting time zone, wifi networking, and routing and traffic all used my location within the last 24 hours.

I also changed all the apps to while using or never.

Give it a charge and see what difference will be. Let us know.

NSA will think you fell off the grid.:)

Well I am at 86% now and it was at 100% when I took it off the charger this morning at 7 AM. Most of my usage goes to texting, I do text a lot, but that's it, most my browsing while at work is done on a computer unless I am not at my computer. I will probably just wait until tomorrow and charge it tonight and see how tomorrow compares with today.

Or maybe I will charge it to 100% tonight and then see where it is at in the morning. I only use my phone for an alarm.
