Either that or it is indeed a hair issue. Which, if it is, a replacement isn't going to fix the issue.

Would you consider shaving a tiny patch where the sensor sits to determine whether it's actually the Watch being faulty, or just that it can't make a connection?

Hahaha, yup, I'll give it a go. Though I tried on the underside of my wrist, less hair.

I really want this feature to work but I can't seem to get it to work. I raise my wrist and say Hey Siri and nothing.

I was having trouble getting Siri to recognize the name of my kid's school. In frustration when I was trying to correct her, I referred to Siri as a dumbass. Siri stopped everything and texted back "That's not nice."

No, I guess it isn't very nice!

So far I've gotten Siri to pull up the five day weather forecast for me and find me restaurants near my house. I also send texts but agree it stinks to have to touch the screen to do so.

Still, I like it and I really like how the weather forecast displayed. This will be much more convenient than pulling it up on my phone. The lag was negligible.

This seems more like a novelty to me, when you can press the crown and it does the same thing. Does anyone think turning it off will have far better battery life increase? I do like the feature but if I save heaps of battery I would rather it off.

I love this feature...I use it almost every time.

The thing that stinks is that you have to enter your passcode every dang time you want to do anything from waking the screen, including siri. :(

It only asks for the code if it is off your wrist.

No sooner did I sent my msg than did I end up using it. You have to make sure this thing is flat on your wrist. I would argue that you want to hold it flat on your wrist for the best effect. In any case, it worked.

Not that I've seen. I do agree you should be able to say send or something.

Try this. At the screen where message is ready to send, try say "hey Siri... Send the message". See if that works. It works with the last step of setting up reminder where I have to say "hey Siri... Okay".

That bummer is it is on my wrist. I'm kinda struggling and starting to think there may be something wrong with mine. :(

Do you have 'unlock with phone' turned on? I think that is needed for the wrist activation to unlock the watch as well. And I think it works off the wrist, as long as you put it against something (like the palm of your hand) but will re-lock if you lift it off.

Try this sequence.

- Put watch on wrist.
- Unlock iPhone with code or fingerprint (just need this once after you are wearing the watch. Ok to relock phone after doing it.)

- Now try the watch. If 'unlock watch with phone' was enabled, and 'raise wrist to enable' are both on, the watch should now be unlocked on your wrist until you remove it again.
- Test by pressing the digital crown in. You should go straight to menu without a passcode request.

Can anyone get Siri to send texts for you?

I can get it to write and address texts to the correct person, but I can't get the messages to send without touching the screen, and that kind of defeats the hands-free element of the whole thing...

Is there a specific command I should be using to get this to work, or is it just totally impossible?

In the companion app on your iPhone, in messages try turning it to dictation only and see if that works. I'm not sure if it will but I have yet to try it.

I haven't tried this variation yet thanks. Ok, even with the unlock watch with phone, I get to the unlocking of my phone and the watch turns on and immediately asks for my passcode.

I've been working with apple and they have escalated with engineering and have been in contact with me throughout the morning.

I was having the same problem. Go on your phone and turn hey Siri off and back on. Also, if your phone is plugged in I believe it stops working on the watch so you don't have multiple siris responding to you.

If this is true it's not working for me. Today I had phone plugged in and said hey Siri and both devices activated Siri :(

I did it last night. "Hey Siri, text Daughter hi, I'm sending this from my watch."

i would definitely think so... That means the whole time you are using it, it is listening and processing the sound to look for the command, which could come at any point. On the iPhone the feature only works if the phone is plugged in I believe, which is a good hint at the processing load. Granted it is only doing this when in active use, but still.

I tried asking for directions to test out some local spots and discovered that Siri has trouble with the word "Kauai". It is looking for "Kawai E". It does work great with more generic names.

I just tried it again and only my watch responded even though my phone was plugged in right next to it. So opposite of what I was seeing last night... Who knows, it is 1.0 software. I may turn it off until a few software updates are out.

That did work. I also tried "hey Siri, reply to the message testing" and it replied to the message with the message saying testing. I then say "hey Siri reply" and it's sent. Enjoying this watch a little more with every new thing I find.

Well, those both helped-- and it popped up a new screen asking if I wanted to Send, Cancel, or Review.

Siri seems to have difficultly understanding the word "Send", for some reason, which is pretty weird considering it's been very close to 100% on everything else. Strange stuff.

I was able to send one message hands-free, but it's a bit of an uphill battle. I'll keep plugging away and see what happens.

I wish it worked more like the iPhone, where if there is an option then it would start listening again...In most situations where I'm trying to use siri it is because my hands are busy, so I'd rather not have to touch the watch at all. Having to say Hey Siri every time kind of sucks.
