This will happen. I see this as taking the place of the 3gs and ppl will buy it because its hip and cheap. Apple will sell millions of these in asia and europe.

:apple:

Yeah, looks like a phone I could buy, and probably prefer instead of aluminum/metal. But of course... it's filled with last generation tech. Always this curse. There really is no choice.

I don't know what the specs will be, but this. is the reason I don't see myself lining up for the plastic iPhone.

Well, sort of. The real reason is that I have the iPhone 5, and I don't plan to upgrade for another year anyway. So no 5S for me, and no plastic iPhone.

Unless...I accidentally drop my iPhone 5 in a lake or fountain, or leave it sitting on top of my car as I drive away. Those aren't things I have done, but it's possible, and I've seen friends who have broken their iPhones and need to replace them before the contract is up. If I have an accident, and I need a new iPhone to get me through the end of the contract, I'll certainly consider buying the cheaper model.

Suggestion for a title change:

"Techdy puts on sale a lookalike of a what they claim is a new iPhone"

Bamboo!

Are we back in the late 90'ies - hard plastic?

Give me the phone in a natural, ecofriendly, good looking bamboo and then I'm in!

Just buy a Nokia lumia 820 with a white shell ... Cheap to buy, better than Apple quality, 4.3" AMOLED screen, nicer to use windows OS ... Should I continue?

You really don't understand. Apple fans don't speak with one voice. When you hear one Apple fan saying one thing, and then later hear another saying something else, why do you think the two people are the same?

Is it your experience that you must agree with everyone on everything? That's the only explanation I can think of for you loving to hear two different people who like Apple saying different things at different times.

Not exactly sure what youre trying to say here? That aside, I've been buying apple kit (lots of it) for over 16 years and I've witnessed the rise and now (IMO) fall of Apple. Luckily Apples marketing hype no longer works on me; and I can see a number of competitor brands being a much better buy ... But best of all, because I'm not an Apple lamb, I can buy based on spec and price, regardless of the manufacturer .... I'm not 'blinded' or seduced by the Apple logo (which theses days, come on, means what exactly?) Apple have lost their way!

No android makes cheap phones. The brand new Galaxy S4 feels like it is made from the plastic used to wrap kids toys in the store. Other than the HTC one I can't think of a single premium feeling android. Unless you count a 6.3 inch phone premium. A 600 HP Ford mustang is still a ford mustang. Even though it has more horsepower than a Ferrari its still a Mustang.

That's odd because as far as I'm concerned (along with MILLIONS of other people around the world who aren't seduced or blinded by an Apple logo (ergo sheep!), I have no problem with the plastics used by Samsung, I don't find them cheap and I don't find the phone as a whole to feel anything but quality. Of course it's not made of metals like the iPhone, but then again it doesn't scratch before it even comes out the box (!!) or look like a mish mash of design. The S4 has a GLORIOUS screen, is feature packed and I'll live with a pastic back to ensure it remains thin, light and allows me to easily remove and replace, add SD memory, wireless charging etc. if you'd rather have a scratched aluminium back then enjoy!

I'd also direct you to any of the new Nokia mobiles (windows), Sony, HTC ... I could go on ... MANY phones that no, aren't made of aluminium, but sure feel as good if not better than an iPhone, and all are a better usage experience.

How about you either get an apple logo etched on your arm, or open your mind and explore the possibilities from other manufacturers as I and many others have. I still buy Apple kit, but where ts not the best, I vote with my wallet, and for mobiles, sorry Apple, you ain't getting it anymore until you do better.

Anyone else want to harp on about a plastic back????

Has anyone considered the idea that this could be a cellular enabled iPod touch, as has been rumoured before, some years ago?

Think about it, putting a 3G/4Gmodule in it, but selling it as an iPod touch 3G, or 'cellular'. With Facetime audio as the built-in way to make 'phone' calls. Maybe avoiding some licensing issues to be cheaper, just as the iPad in all sizes is still less expensive than the iPhone 5. Ofcourse, you could use Skype, or any other VOIP client as well.

Face it, who really needs a cellular phone to have an old-fashioned 'phone number' these days? And those who do, can simply use a SIP provider.

I'm just speculating here, but this does seem like the kind of bold next step into the future that Apple is capable of making.

There is no bare metal antenna on the iPhone 5. They use the standard type behind the glass portions on the back.

This looks awful. At least the metal looked kind of cool as it scuffed and aged. This will look abysmal.

I think you will find you are incorrect re the antenna - it works as per described by the person you have incorrectly replied to. Learn your products, check your facts!!!!

Don't get me started on AMOLED screens, I really hope Apple steers clear of them for the foreseeable future. Promising technology for sure, but far from ready for practical use, imo.

Finally. Would choose this over my iphone 5 any time. More comfortable to hold, better material for a phone, better antenna reception, no reason to put your phone in an ugly plastic case like everyone does anyway. And it is also a cheaper material. Yes, the aluminum feels pro and expensive, but that is hidden in a case anyway. This design is more beautiful than iphone 5 in a minimalist view. Not shifting materials, surfaces and visible seems everywhere. This looks like Apple and not and old Leika.

just another dirty trick by apple to make more money, i wonder will they be able to make people fool again to buy this stupid device.

Why do you think Apple exists? Of course they want to make money.

It's not a dirty trick by a long shot. They will certainly provide a product that will work and will be updated regularly. Compare this to lower tier Android phones from major manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC or LG and you will see obsolete Android versions (that will not be updated) and bad hardware on which the OS runs with lag.

Just because it looks stupid in your limited view, does not mean that it IS stupid.

buy an android phone then!

Actually I bought a Windows Phone :D

It's not only Android phones that have bigger screen sizes. Your comment amazes me. You were probably one of these people that spouted that a 3.5 inch phone was the right size too. If it was, then why did Apple go 4 inch?

The screen size was the only reason I left Apple, and if they want to stay in the game they need to listen to the users. The smartphone market is forever evolving.

Oh, and if you don't want a larger screen you can always stay with your current generation iPhone. ;)

THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE. I have the 2006 MacBook, pre-abused by 2 previous owners, and it's covered in cracks.

Apple should fix that for you, even out of warranty. At least they were still doing so last time I checked.

as if how a phone feels makes it premium or not............silly

Well, everyone can find their own reasons for Tata is better than Porsche, but these reasons doesn't work for everyone.

So much negativity here....the same people will be falling over themselves to get these phones when they are released. I don't see how it can be classed as "cheap" when nobody has seen, held or used the phone yet. You can almost guarantee it will look and feel amazing when released, because it is Apple! It was the same with the iPad Mini, people moaning about no retina- but it is selling more than the full size iPad. Let's see...it is unfortunate people are so quick to judge the unknown.

No it didn't, the black one had a black front, and the white one had a white front.

Sorry, but you are wrong.

Also, the black iPhone came in a black box and the white one in a white box.

Far from ready for practical use? That's an odd statement seeing as AMOLED screens have been in production for MANY years and for pictures and video, offer a significantly better image quality than alternatives. Some may prefer, some may not (I do), but to state they're far from ready for practical use shows your lack of screen technology knowledge.
