So far, while at uni I haev bought:

imac (over the phone but was actually sent back as it was faulty)
Macbook pro (replaced the imac, bought using the HE store)
Macbook (bought using the HE store)
Mac Pro (bought using the HE store)


I have never been asked for any sort of ID...ever.:eek:

Have you had it delivered to your uni campus or home address though?

I have purchased using the HEC discount over the phone (as you can't do online to get the full tertiary level student discount which is higher than that offered for schools), however each time I have made a purchase they have asked me to send an e-mail from my university e-mail address to prove that I am a student.

As universities tend to shut down e-mails addresses for ex students at the beginning of the next academic year, this is a pretty safe and cheap way for Apple to check. Also they only offer the full HEC discount to a specific list of Universities.

[Note that this information is correct for the UK - I have no idea about the US & Europe]
