They are cutting far too many corners! there's nothing inside. Zilch! NADA! I hope the box is bloody nice, otherwise I will not be buying.

You can see the magnets for the display latch. yay.

As for a redesigned DVI...its probably a mini-dvi redesigned to support duallink.

No MacBook updates

Maybe I'm the only one, but I don't think the MacBooks are being updated. I think the MacBook Pros are getting a 13" model added to the lineup.

If the cases shown were for both MacBook and MacBook Pros, there would be very little to differentiate the two, even if the guts are different inside.

Did anyone else notice the indent on the underside, front-right of the MB. It looks very similar to an Expresscard/54 slot. Just a thought. It could be an indent for something else, but there are no pics of the front, so it is hard to tell.

Tell that to the MacBook Air.

I highly doubt any software developers or Video production professionals are using the Macbook air..... and also required to work off of VPN network shares. (Large VPN interfaces that utilize RSA standards would not allow WIFI connections in their specs)

Like a user previously stated, VPN connections over WIFI is ridiculous.

And moving Ethernet to a USB bus would be counter productive when it comes to hardware performance.

I could see apple dropping the standard 2 usb2 ports in favor for one to accommodate Ethernet.

There's very little difference between the iMacs. There really is no reason to make such a difference between them except the internals. What separates a consumer machine from a pro machine? The speed and power of it's guts. Not the design on the out side.

sliding your macbook into the computer would never happen. think of all the problems that come with that.

moving on...

Really! Can you just see all the scratches and hear the complaints when people start screaming that their mac book won't eject from their iMac?--)))) ;);)

well I like the move to a MBA style keyboard - I love the feel of it personally.

The connectors are not so important to my needs so again thats ok (but having one more usb than my Air is great).

I am truly looking forward to seeing the new machines - may get one before I move to Canada (yep one more box to ship :( ) but I will join the MacBook club I think.

(that way the air will live in the bedroom and only go out for trips to the park or on non-static photo shoots with me) :)

Exactly my point -- there is very little difference within grades of computers. Are you saying that there is a Pro/Consumer difference within the iMac lineup? Differentiating the MacBooks from the MacBook Pros is crucial for Apple to sell the high end machines.

LOL. :D Not only that, but your iMac would have to be over a foot away from any walls or desk shelving in order to have intercourse with the MacBook.

There is none in the iMac line, but professionals do use iMacs. In the announcement of the new iMacs, Steve said that the pros like the alu design because it looks professional, and consumers like the alu design because it looks like a high end consumer product.

But having one set of configureable MacBooks will mean that everyone can get the machine that suits them. I'm pretty sure Apple will be dropping the MBP name, and simply going with MacBooks. The new MBP and MBs will look pretty much identical, and the current definition of 13.3" = consumer and 15.4" = Pro is just stupid. A consumer may want a bigger screen, conversely a Pro may want more portability.

I hope Apple simply call all their laptops MacBooks, and offer a wide variety of configs, like a 15.4" with integrated graphics and a 13.3" with dedicated graphics, as well as current models.

That way people can get the computers that best suit them, and not be put in a "consumer" or "Pro" box.

Chicklet keys = EPIC FAIL!!

Chicklet keys are the best in my opinion. When I first bought my notebook the keyboard looked so futuristic to me. And when I started typing it felt like as if I was a secret agent typing 100wpm, and the sound was like soft and smooth, tik tik tik.

The surface is flat smooth as if it was a touch screen. In future we will have touch screen or laser keyboards or something like that on a flat surface.

Chicklet keys look so modern and futuristic in my opinion.

I am leaning towards the theory that these pictures are of the MacBooks and not MacBook Pro's. I don't think we have seen the MacBook Pro casing yet. Wonder why nobody has leaked an image of the 17"? hmmmm

Time will tell. Only 48 hours to go....

no firewire on the macbook. that's a drag. perhaps it will be on the higher end macbooks. not everyone can afford a pro and not everyone needs a pro. but i dare say many of us have fire wire peripherals and like to keep usb as a connector for things that don't need to be fast, like keyboards and mice.

Uhm...the first page of this article has pictures of both. The Macbook Pro has speakers, the Macbook doesn't.
