Apple says the show is meant to "bring the world together". Of course...this over photo-shopped hysterical diva has just the credentials to unite us all

I was thinking the same thing when a previous poster said Mariah was synonymous with Christmas. The first thing that popped into my head was Johnny Mathis. Then I thought I was just showing my age. 🙁

Roughly same percentage as the first few years of original contents produced by Amazon and Netflix.
Upcoming line up has some international contents, but given Apple TV+'s freshman status, much of the contents are skewered toward US and/or English speaking audience.
Ozark and Altered Carbon are just two of the many Netflix original series that have premiered since 2013. 5 is WAY OFF. And Ozark is immensely popular.

Yeah maybe 15-20 years ago she did. My “youngsters” only know her from the Christmas album we play every holiday season. Nobody is trying to sound like her now. She belongs to my generation and I treasure the wacky warbler.

Sorry, but I just can't stand this person. Such a Diva is an understatement. Maybe I'll try and watch for the content but if she starts in with her arrogant self, I will just turn off.
I meant first 10 months of Netflix, which is how old Apple TV+ is today. According to Wikipedia (List of Netflix oriiginal programming), Ozark premiered on July 2017 and Altered Carbon premiered on February 2018. The first 10 months of Netflix (February 2013 to December 2013) was a far more sparse than Apple TV+'s first 10 months (November 2019 to August 2020).
Netflix's junior (3rd) year is when people started to pay serious attention. By 3rd year, Apple TV+ may hopefully boost much more appealing library, which will have many more seasons of its well received series as well as "potential" blockbusters like Foundation, Invasion, Lisey's Story, Masters of the Air, and The Shrink Next Door.
And here I was wondering why all the actors in Servant were British and using American accents.
The upcoming Asimov Foundation series looks very British.

She's a Diva with 5 Grammys, critically acclaimed and known by many (apparently including you). I'm pretty sure she'll be just fine with the fact that you can't stand her 🙄
Sorry Tim Cook, plastic fantastic is the last thing I want for Xmas. Seriously considering to cancel my AppleTV+ subscription..... Oh wait it's free and will be for some time.

IMO, this is a Very Good move by AAPL; households with older adults that don't already have access, will very-likely consider checking out AppleTV+ just for this !
If done right, it will be AAPL's single-BIGGEST AppleTV+ viewing event of 2020 !

That will be a big PASS in my household! Nothng against Mariah by any means, just not my style of music. Actually, the TV Christmas specials for at least the past decade or two have been rather lame. All the big name stars of my childhood who had great Christmas specials every year are long gone, and so is that genre of TV special.
We only listen to Gregorian chant in my home and Advent is not the time to celebrate Christmas, so I can’t watch this. Sorry Apple.
