I still mark it up to people not knowing how to work the settings on their phone. You really think a very small sample are having this problem with data transfer, so it must be the phone or the networks fault right?

I think it's pretty clear there's a problem with the software.

When the Data Roaming toggle is set to "Off", no data should be used - yet people have reported getting email as soon as they turn on their phone in another country.

So why are just a small sample of people having a problem?
 
Several UK carriers have confirmed this is a bug and they have agreed with Apple that it needs to be fixed.

The people referred to in these articles were refunded.

Is the 'fix' that carriers won't charge customers for Apple uploading spy data via data connection?

A few posts a go someone said it was to do ios 3.1.3 so since that is obsolete...
 
I pull the SIM on mine when I travel internationally so I can still use free wi-fi where it is available. ;)

This is not practical. What if you get an SMS or a call?

I travel abroad a lot and was never hit with a roaming data charge. Something is fishy about this article.
 
I'm wondering if people think turning off 3G constitutes turning data off entirely, and thus data is still going over EDGE/GPRS and they're getting charged.
