I don't think it's hardware because i got my ip4 day one and had no problems with it until a month later when i was finally able to jailbreak it. What did you do with activator to figure out that was the cause? Did you just uninstall it? That would suck since activator is pretty dependent for me

basically in the end I had uninstalled everything... the dang button still didnt work so I upgraded to 4.0.2, and all was fine
you could restore to 4.1 and jailbreak again, add your jb-apps one by one to find whats causing it

I was having the unresponsive home button issue on my jailbroken iPhone, so I tried a tip I found online.
Go to SBSettings and tap "More", then choose "Mobile Substrate Addons" and disable "Activator". I believe Activator will still function, but this caused my home button issue to go away, at least in the short term.
Please post here if you try it and find that it works, as this could be a solution to our nagging problems!
