I was going to say "heck no!" when I first read the title, and browse the front page portion of the post, but after watching the video, it seems like a great idea, nothing like Windows 8. This concept basically adds the flexibility of expanding the icons to get more information. A+

On the contrary, Windows 8's Metro GUI is extremely annoying, slow and confusing, specially when you are used to quickly getting to the desktop and programs, etc.

Not more concepts, especially ones that aren't even based on rumors of things Apple is working on. Please MR make it stop!!!

Why? I would not have seen this unless mac rumors showed me. Mac Rumors please do not stop even though people click on them to bitch about whatever was written.

This looks needlessly complicated. Not sure what this would add to the user experience.

Live updates on the homescreen? For something like checking stocks, weather or bitcoin prices it means you just unlock the phone and no other interaction is necessary.

If anything in iOS really needs an update it is the homescreen. There isn't even a visual indication that an app is running in the background, using GPS signal or downloading a file - all could be shown with a simple bubble icon like the push notifications are currently.

The one thing Apple sorely needs in iOS 8 is more system integration of apps. Right now every app is essentially constrained to its own little box which is great for security - but we can open the box a bit more while still staying secure.

Hello windows phone.... wait a sec, that's iOS.

Damn times must be tough if Apple is ripping off microsoft.

It's got to the point where Microsoft, google and Apple are ripping off each others ideas. To be honest, Microsoft is probably the least guilty.

I cant see it happening though......

I think there are some details to work out with this concept to make it really great but the overall idea is very good. This type of widget system would be very user friendly and work very good. Couple that with the rumored larger screen size iPhone and you have plenty of room for this concept.

Oh go away already. That argument is older than my grandmother!

Still, his arguments was as real as your grandmother. :D

This concept is not really copying Windows 8 Metro. This concept is about expanding your icons to visualize additional information, and only the icons you want, while preserving the same simplicity of the current iOS GUI.

The potential for this is great. Just the implementation of this in the mockup is very fugly. Reminds me of Windows 8 Metro. But if Apple does this right, I'll defo be a fan of it.

I like the intent, but it's not very well visually balanced. Mixing the larger widgets haphazardly with the app icons is too garish.

This idea would be especially appreciated, however, on the iPad if Apple would actually optimize the OS for the iPad within the various apps. That should be priority number one, in my opinion.

I don't think It would be a good idea. iPhone can open apps blazingly fast why would anybody want to see previews of apps on their screen? Also a lot of fandroids would spam all the internet to say ''Apple copied Android!!!'' ironically. UI should kept as simple as possible. Also if Apple really wants to add widgets, they should make a dashboard on iPhone and put it on notification center to allow users to see them from everywhere, that would be logical not having widgets on home screen.

I didn't use widgets when I had an Android phone, really doubt I would use them on my iPhone

What's the point of posting this right before WWDC when there is zero evidence Apple will be doing anything like this iOS 8? I could maybe understand if it was an actual jailbreak or something. But it's not even that. It's just a mediocre attempt at widgets on iOS.

Well why not? Its their web site. I now know how crappy a widget could look on iOS and never want to hear some one say they want widgets again.

Ok? Thanks thesaurus.....

Barf.

Yet another "concept" that proves the obvious: Apple is a lot better at designing these things than the amateurs MR promotes.
