Like iMessage where the feds got it despite end-to-end? Guess what? You sync your iMessages to iCloud backup you just opened the door.

But Apple doesn't tell you that. It was found out real world in the courts. Apple marketing speak is typically not full reality.
Are you talking about the San Bernadino case? The FBI hired a security firm to exploit an old iPhone on iOS 9. They didn't get in through iCloud.

Yeah, and Amazon has all your videos and happily shares them with the police. ;)

Homekit Secure Video is by far the best system for people who value their privacy ...

don’t forget their marketing department and data partners.

i have ring too. doesn't notify me of a package delivery.
Your ring doesn't notify you when a delivery person comes to your door? Sounds like a configuration issue on the user side. Until packages start magically materializing on my doorstep without something coming onto my property to delivery it in range of my existing cameras, I'm not sure what's new or wonderful here.

if one can find a workable HomeKit camera system you have a point. Ring and Blink are feature and flexibility rich. Your point the main reason no indoor cameras other then on Mac and IOS systems In my house. If those police want to see the night critters, have fun. Apple HomeKit has extremely limited options in hardware.

no it recognizes people coming to drop off packages but i turn that off because it also detects too many people walking on the sidewalk. yes i did set up my zones. and i don't really care for a mailman dropping off regular envelopes but i do care if a package was dropped off. ring doesn't recognize a package being left on the floor which is what this homekit secure video does.

It's not that bad. There's about a dozen cameras with HSV support. I have a Logitech Circle 2 with HSV firmware so far and it works quite well. Now with the higher limit for the $3 plan I plan to buy one or two more, probably Logitech Circle View, Netatmo, or Eve Cam. The new Eufy indoor cam is also interesting because of the price, but I read somewhere that you can't run it reliably without installing their proprietary app, and that is something I'd like to avoid. Only two HSV door bells though.

So can I get Ring to connect with this using Matter? Everything should just work for all the partners signed on for this, right? I’ll need to get one of those tilt down wedge plates. My packages are often just out of sight.

Reddit and other HomeKit related forums complain of connectivity issues and sunlight causing the doorbell to overheat and disconnect.
They specifically said what environmental the camera is best operated with. It’s not their fault some users using it outside of that.

Logitech Circle view works quite well.

I don’t think your Ring will work with HSV. It should work with HomeKit through Matter though.

Oh great.... how about INSTEAD they fix themselves when they go offline. That would be 1000x better than package notifications.

That Logitech circle camera and their HKSV doorbell are the biggest pieces of trash that are certified to work with HomeKit. Reddit and other HomeKit related forums complain of connectivity issues and sunlight causing the doorbell to overheat and disconnect.
Unfortunately this is a thing. Mine is in direct sunlight and goes offline constantly. I would be totally fine with that by the way if it would CORRECT ITSELF when the sun is no longer on it but it doesnt. I have to manually reset it every time.

HOME KIT SUCKS

Battery only or POE power? Then there is distance to camera from wall outlet. The low voltage side needs extension cable. A no no to run the high voltage cords through walls for outside use. Other options like flood lights camera an example. What I meant by options. Very limited.

Edited:
Example of power for outside:

”It can be used indoor or outdoor. The camera is weatherproof. However, the cord is permanently attached and is USB. The USB power adapter is not weather proof. I have mine running to a box in my attic, so it isn’t an issue.”

I have had the 200GB plan for some time. HKSV was limited to 1 camera now it’s 5 cameras! I just set another camera to record and it worked without a warning prompt. Finally!

There is no PoE. It's a Wifi camera.

It uses a standard USB type A cable for power supply (5V), so any USB extension cable will work. Unfortunately the cable isn't detachable on the camera side, so you may have to cut and re-solder the type A plug (or any other plug for a 5V supply) on the other end if it prevents routing the cable.

The camera has reliability issues even when inside. My biggest concern is how the crappy $200 “doorbell” goes offline when the sun hits it.

It is VERY much Logitech’s fault that they advertise a doorbell as being compatible outdoors and direct sunlight causes it to overheat. Never have I seen a doorbell stop working when the sun hits it. I also don’t know anyone with a house that has the doorbell inside either.

Does it need new iOS beta installed?

As far as I remember —I read it a few years ago— Apple does tell you that. It is (was?) in the documentation of iCloud. They explained exactly what is encrypted and what is not. Basically, the data that Apple can help you recover can be turned to the law agencies; what they cannot recover if you lose your password/AppleID is encrypted and useless for anybody.
