Yeah, waiting for watchOS 5.1.2, but stable is critical since you can't restore it like you can with an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV.

Actually you can - if you have an ibus:

At about 2:25 in the video look closely at itunes when he plugs his apple watch into his computer.

itunes changes to reveal a hidden feature of itunes ability to do a complete restore of the apple watch, just the same way it can restore ios and apple tv devices.

He then proceeds to do the complete restore of the apple watch.

So few people have that device though... Looks like its only for S2 and lower also. I imagine the only people really excited to upgrade are people with S4's so they can get the EKG feature.

Wholeheartedly disagree. I use mine all the time. Its a speaker. Improve Siri and its on par with Amazon and Google. The only difference is the HomePod sounds great.

Stereo is widely available but some guys just want the mono.

S1 and S2 they refer to are actually S1 and S2 of the ibus, not of the apple watch.

Apple changed the number of connectors in the diagnostic port which is why they had to make a second version of the ibus. S1 has 6 pins and S2 has 5 pins.

So how many versions of ibus there is depends only on the number of connectors in the diagnostic ports, not the number of versions of apple watches.

Gotcha, understood. Admittedly I didn't watch the video you had posted, just made an assumption.

Wow, they should really use "V1" and "V2" or something like that, because a lot of people will be unintentionally misled. I certainly was.

Finally I can ask Siri to post my Nude Selfies to Tumblr
You've got until the middle of the month so chop chop.

Tumblr to ban all adult content
Tumblr will ban all pornography from its service this month, in a move that will alter how the social network is used and shows an increased desire by major media companies to restrict which content appears on their websites.

Unlike most major websites, the microblogging outlet has always had a tolerant attitude to legal adult material since it was founded in 2007, gaining a reputation as a safe haven for adult-themed artists, sex workers and pornographers. As a result adult material has flooded the service, where it sits alongside other fandoms for everything from Harry Potter to anime.

I get a chuckle from these folks mocking Apple for saying the EKG feature will be available “later this year”...as if the year is over and they’re already living in 2019.

Apple will kill the HomePod soon or they need to figure out something new. This thing is pretty much useless.
based on what? it is one of the best speakers for sound and works great for general tasks like reminders/alarms/meeting and more importantly home for lights.

Could it be smarter? of course but i have a google mini and what i use homepod is no different to what i ask the google mini.

Can't restore it on Apple TV 4K either, fwiw
Good to know! I hadn't needed to look at a 4k! :)

I could've used it on the S4 after it needed to be returned last month!

[As above, I initially thought their S1 and S2 were Apple Watch series - they should label it differently than the watch!]

It looks like it is bit expensive and complicated (https://www.mfcbox.com/shop/ibus-s2-tool-for-apple-watch-s2-s3-38mm-42mm/ ) for an average user.

Since I have Apple Care, I think I'll let Apple handle it unless it is an emergency. Thanks for linking to it though, it is quite cool.

I hope they fixed Siri Shortcuts bugs with recognizing words and actions that don't start. I created a shortcut in Overcast called "Techmeme" that I use to start that podcast. This is usually how that goes:

"Hey Siri, Techmeme" becomes:

"Hey Siri, text meme" … "To whom would you like to send it?"
"Hey Siri, text me" …
"Hey Siri, tech me" … "I'm sorry but I don't understand."
I think sometimes it even comes up as "Tech Meme" as two words and doesn't work.

When it does finally recognize it, it says it's starting to play it, but it never plays. I have to do it a second time and then it always starts the second time. It's really dumb.

The reason I don't have it set to "Play Techmeme" is because it tries to play it from the podcast app. I like using Overcast because it shortens pauses and speeds up audio and syncs between devices so I can keep track of what I've listened to. I like the interface better too and how you can customize everything. If I set it to "Hey Siri, Techmeme Ride Home" (the full name of the podcast) it tries to get directions to my house. It's so dumb I hate it the most. So far it has been kind of a disappointment.
This sums up the fiddliness and unreliability of Siri so well. Even the most basic edge cases, like interpreting ‘Techmeme’ as two words when you clearly have a matching action for the single-word version of the phrase, have just been so horribly inaccurate for so long now, it’s downright embarrassing how bad it is, especially given Apple’s usual level of attention to detail and usability.

Siri needs so much work and it is so overdue.

Starting to worry that no-brainer updates to the HomePod might turn into HomePod 2 exclusive "features"...Like adjustable Siri volume (for god's sake that thing is loud when other people in the house are sleeping), or being able to wake up to a playlist as opposed to a generic alarm sound (I think it's the only smart speaker to not be able to set music as an alarm, sigh)... Bought this thing fully expecting basic smart-speaker features to be brought about in software updates but it's been almost a year now and crickets.

And yes like others are noting the ECG feature they promoted like crazy is still AWOL. I get the pressure to release things on time, but maybe they finish the product first BEFORE release next time? Lol.

Not sure what revolutionary features people expect out of a speaker. Seriously. It’s a speaker. The smartness will be improved over time, but if people are looking to have their socks blown off by it...wtf kinda expectations do they have?

I use mine all the time, loved how it sounded and bought myself a 2nd one. It gets better with each update. Audio comes 1st, everything else second. That's the main priority of this speaker, for people who listen to music not for ordering pizza or summoning uber.

Of course the update that we all been waiting for is the one that's not released yet.

nope ... seems you lack a bit of context understanding. we are waiting for a good update not any update!

I hope this fixes the bug where Siri just searches the web for my shortcut title instead of running it.

hardly imagine theres something more stupid than siri ... hope thats not an offence, might be possible here at mr

ECG is not going to happen this year.
Yes it is. There’s been many reports it will be in 5.1.2 public release for the US.
[doublepost=1544097004][/doublepost]Like many others are saying, I’ll be very careful with updating my series 4 when it drops because 5.1 bricked mine too.
I might wait a day at least to be sure

Siri makes me want to throw my phone at the nearest concrete surface daily. The most basic stuff will work one minute then fail to work an hour later. It needs a connection to the internet for anything, which is fine if you live in Silicon Valley but out here in the real world between cell towers its pretty frustrating to use to say the least.

So close to getting a pair when it was $249 - but no cross fade and alarm set to music My Sonos speaker can do this, I wish Apple would.....
