So out of the blue around 6am, my HomePod spoke "Hey there". Nothing was talking at the time to kick off a Hey Siri response and that wasn't a response but more of a statement. Anyone else experience this?

Was there any other type of ambient noise in your room?

It must be just a glitch of some sort. I had my iPhone do something similar with Siri being activated without anyone even being in the room or anything that could trigger it.

One morning in a hungover stupor I grumbled, bleary-eyed to my phone on the bedside: “hey Siri, what time is it” . It replied with “I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that.”

That shocked me awake and I immediately scrambled like a paddling puppy to check the phone’s screen. Siri showed it had responded with 7:14AM and wished me a good morning. As such I’m pretty sure I dreamed that, but just to reassure you OP...

This is one technology I will never invest in. A listening device for my home, no thanks. I was given an Amazon Echo Plus a few weeks ago as a freebie and promptly sold it for £110 which was cool. Something creeps me out about every word spoken in the home potentially being processed by a device linked to the internet.

Yea, I get it. The fact that you can't even get Siri to say "Hey there" makes me wonder if engineers were being cute.

Slightly off-topic, but I yelled at my dog rather loudly as it startled me this morning and my HomePod stopped playing music/disconnected from Wi-Fi right then. I had to unplug/replug it. It was odd.

Just my dog snoring. Creepy as hell. A few minutes after that, I said "Hey Siri, I will return your ass if you do that again". No response to that.

I'm being serious even though this sounds funny.

Mine said 'uh-huh' randomly. I just assumed it was because of the TV because no one else was speaking.

I'm assuming you don't have an iPhone then?

So it's interesting that you posted this. This morning my husband sent me a text to tell me that he was getting ready for work and the HomePod, completely unprompted, said "Good morning!"

My Echo will all of a sudden say something at times. I think it will continue happening. Does not creep me out though.

That is funny because ours will say something out of the blue or ask a question out of the blue. Both I and the wife look at each other with the WTF look on our faces. We then ask her to repeat what she just said, and well we get nothing. Weird I tell yeah!

I wonder if it hears something from the TV or just casual conversation like if we ask each other a question or something along those lines. Wonder if we start to see and hear it talking to us without having to use the "Hey Alexa" command!

Does your house happen to be haunted? Probably just introducing herself ;)
