HomePod delayed - thinking about the Amazon Echo Plus instead..

Apple hasn't said they plan to offer a 'puck' much like Google Mini or Echo Dot (or whatever they call it). This is important to this ecosystem. You don't need full blown speakers everywhere when a simple always on puck will work.

Have to face it that Apple missed this sector big time. Amazon will continue to expand

I wonder when in “early 2018” the HomePod will release, maybe Apple will hold an event in April where they will talk more about it? Along with other things such as a new iPhone SE and so on.

Genuinely hoping they will announce something.

I agree with you, though, this should have been something they jumped on. They're missing out on this opportunity in a huge way. They need to have a product to compete. I'm hoping they have a surprise announcement or something soon... but I doubt it.

Plus, I need it so I can complete my HomeKit dream setup.

It seems like Apple are adding features to the Homepod in beta software, I wonder if this is why they delayed it in order to work on Siri?
