'Feels Like You're at a Live Performance' --> For the smoke curtain you mean?

Sonos doesn't do buyers any favors as they don't offer a smart speaker in the same class as HomePod. Of course Sonos One isn't as good as HomePod; it's almost half as expensive.

But Sonos is announcing two Sonos 1s for the price of one a HomePod. Put the Sonos in stereo configuration and see which $350 product images better.

Please keep us updated. I won't sleep well until I've been briefed on your possessions.

Right, and I hope he then also tells us what generation his black stainless Watch is. I am relieved he told us the memory capacity of his iPhone, a crucial piece of information, but to really understand his predicament with the HomePods we do need to know the Watch series.

Not to be dismissive, but if one is that concerned about wireless signals, the only solution is to live in a rural area. Just go to WiFi settings in any major urban environment and you'll see how bombarded we all are with WiFI.
I remember someone claiming on MacRumors that he saw 34 WiFi networks displayed on his Mac... And in the UK, British Telecomms proudly and stupidly advertises their WiFi as having the strongest signal strength - which isn't helping _anyone_ unless they live on a huge plot of land all on their own. Truth is that you can use only 3 WiFi channels at the same time in any area, so if there are more than 3 WiFi networks transmitting simultaneously, bandwidth suffers.

Unless Apple has managed to change physics, magnitude of mechanical waves (aka volume of sound) drops off at a known rate. As such, Apple must have some impressive, extremely powerful speakers in the HomePod (which is a terrible name) for it to be self-contained yet be loud enough to fill a large room. Now we need to see that same technology in an iPhone.

It should work just fine. Apple TV allows you to send all system audio out via Airplay to other Apple TVs. HomePod should function as an Airplay speaker, so it should work just fine. I'll let you know once mine ships :)
It's just rather annoying that the market idiots focus on "you can stream Apple Music" and don't mention anything else.

Ugh the biggest problem I have is choosing what color. I wanted two, but i want it to match by other devices. Problem is I have a silver iphone X (256GB) and a space grey ipad pro (10.5), plus a space gray iMac Pro... not to mention my stainless steel (black) watch. So I ordered two HomePods in White, and two in Space Gray. I'm hoping that will cover my living room sufficiently. Depending on which color is nicest, I'll order more to place in the other rooms.

You should have HomePod in your garage next to your Ferrari. So that when you’re walking out the door you continue to experience the HomePod up until the moment you get into your car.

My thought exactly. What's amazing is the poster didn't come across as bragging or trying to show off. It was like (assuming it is all true) she/he was musing about a normal (minor) dilemma in life. Maybe I'm just projecting myself but I thought it was one of the post down-to-earth posts set on a throne of wealth I've read in a long time. Maybe the post was meant to display wealth but that's not how it came across.

Yeah, it sounded a little out of touch but it's hard to call it bragging in a forum filled with discussion of multi-thousand dollar purchases all day long.

That said, dare I point out that some people don't seem to realize that envy is as ugly of a virtue as bragging? MR seems like a perfectly logical place for musing about one's Apple purchases. Are people really so delicate that they can't even read about someone else having more than what they have?

"Feels like you're at a live performance"

I'm sure it's an outstanding speaker but statements like this call into question whether the reviewer has ever heard a quality sound system before.

Kind of the first thing that popped into my head.

Maybe it's just the type of concert I used to frequent when I was younger, but the sound stage of a live performance might be nuanced and different, but it's far from an excellent sound compared to a well crafted and well mixed audio from production.

but then again. I listen to \m/etal. so... concerts are LOUD

However, based on the way it's been describe as able to seperate sounds and keep clean and crisp audio, reminds me of Bose's sound profile. Which I generally like as it's good midrange, and very crisp and clean sound, that tends to be consistent.

I just wouldn't describe that sort of audio profile as "concert like".

$10K loudspeakers sound better than a $350 "smart speaker"? What? How it that possible?!

Clearly, this is one of those cases where you have to consider how much better for the price, features and convenience vs. a reasonably comparable product(s). If it sounds as good a set of small bookshelf type speakers from Yamaha, Polk, CV, AEs in the same price range (either powered or with a small amp), with these features/packaging, I'm a buyer.

But Sonos is announcing two Sonos 1s for the price of one a HomePod. Put the Sinus on stereo configuration and see which $350 product images better.

Images better or sounds better? The Sonos Ones in a stereo pair would not have the capacity to generate as much sound (or bass) as a single HomePod - not with those tiny drivers they use. Further, to actually notice the imaging you need to be sitting within a small defined area. If you're not, having a stereo pair means nothing.

The real takeaway from his is that Sonos felt threatened enough to offer a pair of Sonos Ones for the exact same price as the HomePod, literally when the HomePod was announced as going on sale.

Sonos should be worried. The type of customer that buys their products is the same type of customer that will consider a HomePod. Every HomePod Apple sells is a lost potential sale for Sonos.

No envy over here. Was it really necessary to list ALL of those products AND tell us how many HomePods he ordered? And what was the point of telling us the storage of his iPhone X? Lol

It was deff a passive/casual “look what I’ve got!”

Just didn’t need to be so specific Lol.
