I wish they would combine their old "Airport" WiFi to the full size HomePod. Or as stated above, combine AppleTV and HomePod. The TV combo makes more sense, but either would make it a much more impressive feature set for the higher price tag Apple wants to sell it for.

Oh, and the non-removable power cords are a deal-breaker for me.

I'm in the Apple Ecosystem but chose Alexa for my home assistants. As has been in all of Apple's long history, when Apple gets something right, it's great. But, when they get something wrong, they really get it wrong.

Amazon looks to be cutting back on Alexa and home assistant devices.

Probably because people are realizing what a mess home automation is, and how it costs hundreds (and even thousands) of dollars and countless hours of fussing to avoid getting off their fat @$$es to flip a light switch that costs them nothing but a few seconds of their time.

Most home assistant commands are trivial with no opportunity to monetize.

Apple needs to introduce several things to make the HomePods and AppleTV a succes:
- Dolby Surround setup, so 2 big front speakers and 2 mini AirPods at the back (maybe even expendable to more speakers, probably no need for a center speaker)
- Matter support, including mash networking capability
- Support for at least 10 years, as these are speakers and not replacing them every 2-3 years
- Therefore no Apple TV built in, as this should be the replaceable part of your system
- Input for digital (HDMI) and analog so it could replace your current setup.

Or combine the last 2 points into an Apple TV that doubles as a receiver and call it Apple HomeHub or something.

Based on what? Siri has not been improving in any comparable way to where Alexa is now. I would think with more competition cash rich Apple would have put more money in to try and keep up with their 2 rivals and yet they have not done so. I get the feeling Apple is lost a bit in their own glamour and really think Siri is the best virtual assistant out there.
Siri keeps getting worse. A recent fiasco

"Hey Siri, watch Moana on Disney+"

"Where do you watch it, LR or BR" (Duh I'm asking you in the LR!!)

"Living Room"

"What do you want to play it on?" (I said Disney+ in the first place!!!)

lights are one of the few things left Siri does right. Sometimes slow, but it works.

If it is compatible with the HomePod I have, I will buy one to get stereo.

But I will be begging Siri and Apple Music to get smart. I want to have music start off quiet when it's time to get up 5 days a week, gradually getting louder. I want it to stop playing Christmas music except after Thanksgiving. And I want to tell it that the version of a song that it has on the cloud is defective, load a new copy. (Uploading and downloading to my Mac is very buggy).
