Update: Empirically, my home network is much better behaved with the tweak I noted earlier. I'm still having some issues with recordings, but it seems like Myth only wants to use one of the three tuners on the HDHR box, despite all three showing up in Myth-setup, but that's a separate issue.

Any delays seeing the Home Sharing server are due, at this point, to having to wake the server from sleep, it seems. I'm not getting random network outages.

Hi is there any fix for this problem saving me from reading though 12 pages of posts that i don't really yet seen any fixes for?

I don't know if there have been any recent updates that caused this OR i just picked up an apple

MacBook Pro 12-inch
iTunes (latest version)

Just recently purchased a refurbished 2011 Airport Extreme Base Station and I phoned Rogers and they turned something off on their end while I just made a new network name and it assigned it

Bearing in mind I am not great with net working problems, is there anything I can do thats somewhat easy to I can be led through it, in order to stop this from happening every 10 minutes so I can watch it without this happening all the time?

Thanks TIA

Better late than never, this fixed my problem:

There are still *2* kinds of sharing in iTunes, the new "Home sharing" way using your iCloud account, and the "old" way using the sharing panel in the iTunes preferences. Turn off the latter!

I found this from a tip about how to speed up home sharing, and it seems to fix shared library loading problems.

I'm having problems with my ATV not seeing my iMac, even though they are both on the network and both downloading content just fine. Can you explain with a little more detail what you are talking about in terms of "sharing through iCloud"? And are you saying that under iTunes prefs it should NOT have "Share my library on my local network" checked?

The latest iTunes update has completely wrecked homesharing for me with Apple TV 2 and iTunes. It disconnects every 5 minutes into a movie. Is this happening to anyone else? Is there some troubleshooting anyone can point me too? Besides a reboot...thanks!

Me too! Every video about 2 minutes in. This is happening every time I watch a video like clock work. So frustrating!

So I put a good two hours into trying to fix it this weekend. After everything I did, hard wiring the ATV to my modem seemed to get me the best results. Even though I have a great wifi modem, it just seems hard wiring it solved the issue for now. Haven't had one drop since it has been hard wired. Watched most of season 3 of Modern Family, and two films Girl w/ The Dragon Tattoo and MI: Ghost Protocol. Both films and about 6 episodes of Modern Family all played fine with no drops.

So fingers crossed this helped. However I'd like to go back to wireless, and it being flawless like it used to be. I hate wires!

Good to know. We shouldn't have to hardware the connection though for it to work like it did before. It started happening for me after the last update. So they should be able to fix it.

My post was also from about 16 months ago, an update happened and fixed everything, no longer hard wired! :)

Apple is retarded. Everything worked perfectly until I downloaded their "upgrade" and it's a ****ing "downgrade".

****tards

Why would you resurrect a 3 month old chain to make a comment that has absolutely no content or information? What model ATV, what ios version did you update to. What is not working now?

Why? Because. Foolishly downloaded the newest version of iTunes, which i NEVER EVER DO because Apple is retarded at software.

And, surprisingly, it doesn't work. My iPad continuously disconnects from my pc hen home sharing, despite the fact I have it turned ON.
