Relax.
But I understand because it's something you "feel," you're likely really committed to it. So I'm somewhat regretful for my post in the first place. Cheers.
Edit: Not worth it, you do you.
Cheers.
And weren't those ports breaking left and right when Apple first decided to get rid of everything else?
I cannot speak to that, I don't remember there being a large issue with them. Certainly MR would have had USBC-Gate threads but it is possible I missed talk on that issue.
I did find this:
Are your USB-C ports loose and repeatedly disconnect / stop charging? (MBP 2016)
All four of the USB-C ports on my MacBook Pro 2016 are loose. No cables 'click' into place, like they do on other devices (including the actual power brick, which never comes undone). This is a really frustrating issue, as I'll find my computer not charging, or hard drives will unsafely...
It seems to indicate that the ports were fixed in the 2017 models, which is the one I had and still had to replace them. Anyway, the thread was an interesting read.
USB-C itself is just fine and plenty stable for people who know how to take care of their equipment and don't just rip cables out of things.
Again, time will tell. I take very good care of my goods, so if the connector holds up I am happy to be wrong. To your point though I think people are rougher with their phones than they are laptops. I have certainly seen some cord/port abuse in many a Starbucks.
Anyway, back on topic, wireless carplay can only help minimize port issues for folks like myself that travel extensively and make many stops along the way.
I should have known better than to question the almighty USBC, it's a damn religion.
