Who cares? I use my AVP exclusively in my home office with nobody watching me. I've used in on Airplanes with nobody who cares. This is a non-argument. So what. If you don't like it, just leave it at that.
Seriously. I remember the AirPods launch and people making fun of the AirPods looking like toothpick sticking out of your ears and saying they look ridiculous and would never buy it. Well, look where we are now.

Things always look silly when they’re just starting out because they’re out of the ordinary. But once their common place is not gonna be a big deal. I could easily imagine a future where people wear some type of AR headset or goggles when they’re out in public and no one bats an eye

The new Mac Virtual Display Ultrawide monitor has just renewed faith for interest in Apple Vision Pro. While I do enjoy using it casually, this is now the productivity tool that I have been personally wanting for a while. I at least now have more interest and need to use it more on a daily basis.

Is it that much clearer? Is it possible to connect using the developer strap for ultimate clarity?

I had to send mine back because I couldn't get used to the heat, the pressure on my face, the sweat and the weight.

Q: What's like a pin-sharp, ultra wide monitor, that doesn't put pressure, heat and weight on your face / head?

Clue: it's also £2000 cheaper, and has inputs for any device you want to use with it.
Using my AVP in a hotel room right now and glad I didn’t have to figure out a way to pack my studio display in my luggage. Different tools for different tasks.

I’m glad this is a solid improvement and look forward to trying it out when I get home. But ultimately I don’t want the AVP to be a Mac display accessory. (I personally find the mix of Mac desktop and native apps too disjointed).

I actually want the AVP to fulfill the promise of Spatial Computing - meaning native visionOS apps. MS has the most, although Outlook is much needed and would be most beneficial. Apple should really get on the ball and make their own apps native - like Pages, Numbers, Calendar, Contacts, Maps, Home, etc.

It has been dramatically improved. Before the ultra wide feature was available, I used it once or twice. In the past week I’ve spent easily 6-8 hours on the AVP as a virtual display. To me, rendering is a lot clearer and the ultrawide display is very fun to use in the spatial environment.

I have no idea about the developers strap.

I believe there may have been a protocol change on the macOS side as well to facilitate ultra-wide mode which might explain the quality improvement. Screen sharing in macOS now offers a "High Performance" mode.

Overall I do not regret getting the Vision Pro but I also bought used on eBay for 2K. The device has overall met my expectations and with mods and tweaks I can wear for extended periods of time. In many regards it is a showcase for the future and apps like FLY really have me excited about the use of immersive type experiences in the future.

The biggest surprise use case for me for Vision Pro is using the device in sunny environments. Macbooks, iPhones, and iPads are difficult to use in the sun but using the Vision Pro in daylight out on my balcony is a pleasure.
