Yeah, I don't think it will be quite that high.;)

That is correct. Basically Apple dropped 32GB and put in 64GB in its place and then added 128GB at the old 64GB price. But to listen to some, it is the worst thing evar!

Do you think we're that stupid? Nobody will want 16GB, so this forces us to shed out more money on extra storage we don't need. It's just money grabbing from Apple. Don't position it like they're doing us a favour.

So then instead of having a 32gb at 199 and 64 at 299 they make it so they charge you an arm and a leg for the 64 gb, take out the 32 gb, and leave you with a 48gb gap between the two options???

How are they charging an arm and a leg for the 64GB model? You gotta realize Apple just doubled the capacity from the iPhone 5s for the same price (minus the 16GB model). Today you would may $299 for 32GB on contract for a 5s. In a few weeks, you will be paying that same $299 but for 64GB of space. Personally, I was hoping the 32GB would become the baseline but this is just as good because I'm getting double the capacity for the same price that I bought my 5s for.

Then get something else. I'm terribly sorry that Apple singled you out today to crap in your cereal.

I don't see the problem. You were willing to pay $100 more for the 32Gb but now they're giving you 64 Gb for the same price? And this is......bad? Or were you hoping that 32Gb would be the baseline and cheaper? Because if you were, then you're just throwing your toys out the pram, my friend.

Sorry, didn't realise this forum was only for biased pro-apple comments.

You can say whatever you like. However, just don't go around saying "Apple is evil" because you didn't get exactly what you wanted.

Apple introduced 2 new phones with 2 different sizes and 6 different price points. They even increased the max storage to 128GB. If these phones don't meet your needs or requirements, then get something else.

This is really a price cut on the 64G model. The price of the 16G model was unchanged. It was unrealistic to expect a price cut of the 32G model.

Some states, like California, require you to pay the taxes on the full retail value of the item. Maybe that's why.

Right back at you, why are you maintaining "Apple is great"? There are criticisms to be directed at them that are normally money motivated.

I'm not saying "Apple is great." I switched to an Android phone over a year ago, because I wanted a larger screen and widgets.

There are certainly criticisms to be directed at Apple. While I think that 32GB should have been the entry point, Apple decided otherwise. They did however, make a nice move in replacing the 32GB phone with a 64GB phone and keeping the price the same. A crap or evil move would have been keeping the 16GB entry point, dropping the 32GB, and keeping the 64GB at the older price.

It is a shame they killed 32gb cos that was perfect for my dad, 16gb wont be enough and 64gb is too much but for me 64gb is perfect :)

I honestly don't understand how anyone could be upset with this. The 16GB is the same price it's always been. The 32GB got bumped to 64GB (thanks Apple, for saving me $100!), and the 64GB got bumped to 128GB.

You're either completely unaffected or saving money...

Everyonebut the cheapskates are getting more product for the same price compared to the 5S.

Think about it this way:

You got three price points: Low, Medium, High
Capacities at 16/32/64

Low price point consists of price sensitive folks who don't care about storage

Medium price point consists of people who care enough about storage to shell out a bit more

High price point consists of people who really want a lot of storage and folks who are not price sensitive, so people who really want 64GB and people who want even more than 64GB

By changing to 16/64/128

You keep the medium price point people at the medium price point, you have some who were at the high price point who will drop down to the medium point, but a lot of the high point folks will stay there because what they really want is 128 or even more. In addition, by widening the gap between low and medium, you may convince a few low point folks to upgrade to medium.

If you switched to 32/64/128, you'd have a lot of formerly medium folks switching to the low point. By keeping 16 at the low end, you prevent that from happening.

Similar analogy is the airline industry, look at how Business and First Class have improved over the years with all the bells and whistles while coach is still coach.

The thread really should have been closed after this post.

Yes, 32/64/128 would have been dandy but at the "medium" and "high" price points (which you would have been at anyway with the 16/32/64 scheme) you're now getting double the storage for the same price.

SOCIETY is going to crumble because Apple didn't make 32GB the entry level for the new iPhones? Good one.

who said that? EVER?
I responded regarding someone saying its for "me" and i said its everyone not just me, hence "society."

Simple english buddy, we are after all in "Murica"

----------

I didn't read all the responses but I'm upset too. I wanted a 32gb phone. The 6 Plus in 64gb is going to cost around $550 after tax and activation fee ON contract.

please don't use logic like adding the total with tax.

People on here hate logic, they love apple. Hey if apple says this phone is $199 but with tax its $2,000 they will still go off the total price of $199 is a great deal!

----------

The reason is not everyone needs a large HD unless they take a great deal of photos and video. You need to wake up and realize there are different users in this world and not everyone is like you.

My mother and father doesn't need more than 16GB. Neither does most of my aunts and uncles who all have iPhones.

Wake up kid.

neither do my parents, 16gb is more then enough for them but you should wake up "kid" because this isn't about that, its about the capitalistic mind frame apple went off.

You clearly are oblivious to how business works.

they are scum bagging us by forcing us to pay up an extra $100 for something we don't need.

With your same "LOGIC" buddy, i can use it against you, not everyone needs 64 ****ing GBs, 32 is more then enough. same way not everyone needs 32gb because 16 is enough.

too bad in CA it isn't 7% closer to 10%.

and the tax is off the cost of the phone not the amount you pay for with contract.

If you pay 200 you aren't getting taxed off 200, its off the cost which is for example $800.

It is all for relativity

I wrote this in another thread... but... here it is

This change is only targeted to the consumers who were right on the edge of 16GB. These consumers used to buy 16GB and did not find the 32gb worth the $100. Yet they suffered from memory issues, everytime a new OS came out, a big app etc.
BY removing the 32GB, apple creates a relativity issue where the consumer is pushed to buy the choice they want. Every consumer knows the 16GB is the cheapest phone and that more memory should be more money. Actually we know that an additional 16GB should be $100 (they told us that year after year). Now Apple brings the 64GB (a 4X increase) for only $100 bucks. Now the consumer on the edge has an easier choice, his $100 bucks is now worth way more than yesterdays $100... the choice is simple because RELATIVE to yesterday, buying 64GB is so much better.
I predict that 64GB is going to be the most common iphone out there!

By the way if you don't believe me take a look at Dan Ariely article on what I just talked about.

http://danariely.com/the-books/excer...-relativity-2/

A lot of you who are complaining about the storage options really don't know anything about Android, do you.

You would be hard pressed to find an Android phone with more than 32GB of storage and most are capped at 16GB.

Yes, I know many Android devices have a micro SD card slot, but the micro SD card storage is so limited by Android about the only thing you can store on it is photos and video that you shoot. You can't run any apps off of it.

At least Apple is giving us greater storage options.

By Christmas, all of these phones will be selling for $100 off all over the place (except the Apple store of course).

If you want an iPhone 6 or 6+, then pony up the money. If you want it cheaper then you'll have to wait a few months.

It's funny how these brainwashed supporters neglect the simple fact that flash memory is not a fixed price. The price has dramatically dropped over the past few years.
This business strategy (aka greed) is outstanding.

Some of us (e.g. California) get taxed at the full price of the phone.

$399 + $850*0.09 + $40 (AT&T) = $515.50

Hmm, not sure if there's a CA Recycling Fee for a 5" display. If there is, that's another $10 or so.
