I’m not saying this isn’t a ‘good’ product, but ‘temperature monitoring’ is not a selling point to consumers. Especially if somebody is working out wearing these, what’s the point of measuring their temperature, when their body naturally would elevate anyways? I just don’t see the point of trying to sell earbuds that monitor temperature through the ear.

The focus should on a quality fit with sound dynamics with earbuds.

I agree about the design being practically a direct copy. Even the shot shown with the article smacks of ripping off Apple's marketing style.

I had to do a double take, maybe a triple or quadruple take to look at the photo and wonder what these new Apple AirPods Pro with Honor name was all about ...then realized they were NOT an Apple product. fooled me there.

I think it is funny the people here complaining about getting temperature via ears being silly or why have this in an EarPod? but can see many praising Apple when they release Air Pods with Temperature Sensing capabilities.

I will admit it seems funny to me, but for those that want to track their body, between this, the Apple Watch, and the Health App (or 3rd-party apps) this can be a good thing to monitor yourself.

This shouldn't be legal
Agree, I wish people that patronize these companies products would design a great new product and then have their design ripped off, wonder how they would react... I never purchase products from companies that blatantly rip off a design.

Doubt it. The company will, unfortunately, never set a foot in US market. The moment they set a single toe into US market, Apple Lawyer Teams are ready to go for massive patent and copyright infringement.
 Where is the copyright infringement?

Considering basal body temperature drop during ovulation can be as low as 0.5 degrees Celsius, not sure you’d want to hang your gat on these to either promote or prevent pregnancy, but as an excuse for sex…

I like the idea and I’m sure Apple is researching as we speak. Also, Apple is the only company I’d trust with health data.

Worth mentioning, another way of saying the 80% +-0.3 degrees Celsius is that 1 out of 5 times this feature is used the reading is off so much that it will bring you all the way from the ‘normal range’ to ‘need to consider seeking medical attention’ (or the other way around). An adult’s normal range is 36.4 C to 37.6 C and a fever starts at 38 C.

So, I wouldn’t be shocked if Apple already has prototypes producing similar, or even better, results but aren’t comfortable releasing yet.

The range of data they’re going to be able to get with the combination of Apple Watch and Air Pods is going to be impressive. Being able to share that with health care providers is going to make diagnosis so much more efficient and accurate.

I wonder if the AR/VR headset will include any health measurements. Likely not in the first version, but perhaps down the road.

How so? I don‘t see how a body temp sensor is in any way problematic.
I thought they were referring to how except for the small dot next to the black mesh, they are carbon copies of airpods design and case and everything., not the temp reader part.

I understand why you hate the design but why hating the idea of a thermometer that's always with you?

May not be very precise but it can still be helpful. If it tells you there's some big change in temperature you didn't notice, you double check with a normal thermometer.

Could be used wrongly, like any device but I think for most health problems an automatic rough check is much better than no check at all.

Plus most wearable devices health functions work like this: they can't replace dedicated instruments but they check you when you constantly and can make the difference.

...I wouldn't buy these but I'd be ok if the next airpods tried that.

If you took a closer look, the stem is actually in the style of the old pre-EarPod iPod earbuds rather than the integrated style of AirPods. Obviously it's still a very close copy of the design (especially the case) but I doubt this is similar enough to be legally problematic in its industrial design. There are many more semi-clones of the AirPod design that are sold in the U.S. from companies like LG, JBL, and OnePlus without Apple taking legal action.
