you can breeze through data when tethering. The unlimited plan will be available for at least another year and 3 months till the iphone 6.

157 GBs this month for 30 dollars owns your 4GB for 45 dollars...

unlimited + jailbreak = #winning

I have unlimited and am thinking of going to the tethering plan for my iPad. I am usually in a wifi zone when using the iPad, but want tethering for those few times when it would be convenient. For me, 4gigs would be more than enough.

BUT, i think that usage like this (157 gbs) is what is driving more and more restrictions on data use from wireless carriers. I for one do not have an issue with charging people for excessive use. Go ahead and flame, but it's just my opinion...

I'm in the same boat. I want to tether but am on the old unlimited plan. The online rep said I could call cutover service and get back on unlimited later if I did not like it. Is this true? I was hesitant to believe her.

I'm no fan of AT&T, but 4GB a month is fine for me for the times I do want to use a hotspot. I am a big fan of the hotspot feature. Makes me wonder why anyone would be the data versions of the iPad.

$45 is fair, but I don't doubt that costs will fall over time, especially as other carriers like TMobile start selling these phones...

The Trader Joes at UCLA use to have free silverware, napkins and bags for anyone to take. I went back yesterday and now you have to ask for them when you checkout. This slows down the line, and makes extra work for everyone. I asked the cashier what happened and he said people just started abusing it.

What you going to do if they say she lied and you're out of luck?

No, that's false. Once you downgrade they wont let you go back to unlimited.

It is with usage like this that we have slow 3G speeds at times. Reminds me of seeing folks going to an all-you-can eat buffet and bringing baggies to load up on food to take home with them...

I have two unlimited plans, one for my iPhone 4 and the other for my iPad. Would not shed a tear tomorrow if AT&T announced a cap on the unlimited or did away with it for good...

Don't blame you there. But what you can do is get the name or ID# of the rep you spoke with and request that she puts a note in your file. Then call back a day or two later and ask if there is a note in your file that you had been told that you could call "cutover service" to get the unlimited plan back later.

I have looked at my iPhone data usage and the most I have done is just under 1GB - averaging about 500MB since the iPhone 4. Prior to that I did an average of 200MB a month.

I can't see myself using 4GB of data between the two devices; and the savings of $15 a month seems worth it. In particular if the iPhone 4 still feeds out the iPad via the hotspot feature the ability of using the FREE AT&T wifi hotspots when I come across them...
