why don't you buy an iPhone now and test it out for 30 days, and if you don't like it, return it. Theirs no point in waiting for this "Fix" that people think is coming. The design is set and Apple has moved on to perfecting next years iPhone model.

Correct. No fix is coming, especially when Apple doesn't believe there is an actual problem.

I'm a case and screen protector guy, so the antenna thing doesn't bother me. Otherwise, everything else about the phone (week 30) is perfect -- no prox sensor issues, no camera probs, no yellow dot on screen, etc. But if I take the case off, and intentionally try the one finger of death, the bars do go down. Caveat emptor, but I love my iP4.

My iPhone 4, is also a week 30 and perfect. It doesn't even have the antenna issue without the case off.....

My phone is a Week 25 one. I can still get the antenna problem with my case off pretty easily. I have had more calls dropping with this phone than any other cell that I have ever used. But, like other people have said, no phone is perfect. Overall, I do love the phone and never thought about returning it when I could. I agree that you should try out the phone and if it doesn't work for you, return it before the 30 days are up. If I was going to get the phone now, I would hear what the people say, but it wouldn't affect my purchase, unless the problems are a lot more common than they are.

People who have had their phones rendered useless because of the "minor" antenna problem won't call that being overblown. I was one of these people, and every person with an IP4 I met (in real life) conceded they've had the antenna issue at one point or another, and most also had the proximity sensor issue.

Not everyone will have antenna issues, but the people who do aren't being "whiners" - they paid for a phone, not an iPod touch.

Your geography, and your phone will influence this one way or another, so you may have zero issues, you may find it unusable, or you might be somewhere in the middle. As for me, 3 years with the launch iPhone provided a superior phone experience than the IP4. Far fewer dropped calls, and not a single proximity sensor issue with the original. So in my case, the IP4 has been returned, and I'm not jumping back into the water until I see a new model / revision to play with.

Either way, good luck.

I just received a week 35 iPhone yesterday(purchased from AT&T the day before and it shipped overnight) and haven't had any issues so far. I am only able to get it to drop 1 bar of signal by placing my hands over the antenna.

Beyond all of the speculation. I returned mine and I am willing to wait until it's definitely fixed, redesigned, or on Verizon.

I'm thinking of returning my iPhone when I get back to school later this month. I've read more positive reports than negative ones about people buying/exchanging their iPhones. It's also a drag that the new 4.1 OS isn't even fixing the proximity sensor issue which is my biggest problem. Having the girlfriend think I'm ignoring her when I have actually muted myself does not give Apple any brownie points.

Steve Jobs himself claims it does.

So... Looks like im going for the Nokia N8/N9 now then..... Sad... i really wanted the iphone but not in this kind of way.

Engadget gives the Nokia a 6/10. The ip4 gets a 9/10. It's a Xcellent piece of equipment. You shouldn't let a few nay-sayers spoil the fun!!

I had many a hate rants on the iPhone 4 until I actually bought one...and I have no problems. No death grip, nor proximity issues. Not saying since mine is perfect and thus all phones have no problems, but mine shows there's at least ONE phone that works fine.

Problems? Surely, you jest...

I haven't had any problems.

The media likes to run with anything slightly negative, even if its blown out of proportion.

You can have mine when you pry it from my cold, dead hands!

I haven't had an issue with mine and I got it June 23rd.
If I didn't read these forums, I wouldn't even know people were so unhappy.

No, nothings changed.

I've had to exchange mine several times for what the genius bar has confirmed as serious faults. The "solution" each time has been to replace the phone. Oh, and to cover up the new one with a case so the antenna will work properly. I hate to be stuck covering up such a nice looking phone. Not to mention I don't have to do that with my Droid X, Samsung Captivate, or N1 Android Phones. Nor do I have to cover up my BlackBerry Bold. But oh well, if Steve Demands it... we have no choice.

The good news is, as a seasoned Apple customer I knew enough to buy AppleCare so that once out of the initial warranty I have additional coverage. But enough talk about the facts.

Let's get to the entertainment, as I always enjoy a good laugh.

In a brilliant stroke of genius, Steve Jobs has waved his magic wand (again), and told everyone who'll listen, there's no problem. So there you have it. ... :)

Jesus don't listen to him lol!

He is the forums resident crank. Any chance to bash on the iP4 and he goes for it.

I have had my iP4 week 22 since launch and haven't had one single issue with it, not one dropped call in over two months, not one issue with the proximity sensor, wifi, GPS, the screen, buttons nothing.

The phone has been 100%

lol, well, i guess by the time i get it, all will be well. i should have it by october's ending time... And the reason im not afraid to get the iphone is the fact that it had alot of error's, green blob, pink blob, antenna probz etc and im overseas.... lets see what happens. thnx for all the info everyone!!!

AT&T has improved one of a dozen dead spots in my area in two years. I really don't care if Apple's mistake is fixed until the iPhone comes to Verizon.
