I have a 6s, and I bought a new case, screen protector, battery, and upgraded to iOS 12 for the
"new phone" feel. It's running really well.

I do wish I had enough disposable cash to get an XR without a second thought, but with iPhone prices these days I figure I need to use a phone until it basically dies then get a new one for the next 3-5 years.

Obviously I'm interested in keeping up with the latest news and rumors because I still hang around this place. But I know if I were to upgrade, I'd be excited for a few days and then return to the same baseline happiness and start looking for the next craving.

6s with iOS 12, 6s+ for wife and both run like a champ. Battery was replaced recently at Apple store, I plan to keep it until it becomes excruciating to use. Battery life is not good as older iOS versions, but it rarely gets below 50% battery per day. We both got Apple Watch instead of the phones this year.

Launch day 6 Plus on iOS 12 with 91% battery health. It’s not the quickest granted but does everything I need it to do and upgrading at this stage would seem a waste of money.

6S+ for daily driver. iOS 12.0. Fast and smooth, no complains.

Phone easily lasts 2 days of use and I’m getting 7+ hours of usage per charge.

6S+ on iOS 9.3.5, works fine - battery a bit weak nowadays, will replace it on monday.

6S is my primary/only phone. Runs great on iOS12. Had the battery replaced a few days ago (wanted to catch the cheap offer) and it easily lasts the day, often two.

The only issue I have with it is that I bought the cheapest (16GB) model, but at least the new-ish app-offloading feature means that apps I hardly use are removed. It's annoying when I suddenly want to run one whilst I'm out though, as it starts to download it then does nothing. Have to click it again to actually run it.

6s 3 years old, good enough performance on ios12.1 but battery poor though better under 12.1 than 11. Will not upgrade though till battery unusable.

My 6s works great and I suspect will remain very usable for quite some time. If I upgrade in the near future it will be to get the new form factor rather than necessity.

Just got around to replace my battery on my Yellow 5C! I use it for knocking around time at the fitness club, shopping and working around the home. I listen to streaming music and cable sport shows mostly. I going to update my screen protector too and change it from film to glass.

I too have the latest and greatest iPhone X’s Max Silver 256GB!
I didn’t think Apple was replacing 5c batteries.

iPhone 6/6+ was underpowered from the start and wasn’t worth the upgrade from the 5s.. 6s was a big jump in performance and was a much better phone in every way...
If this wasn’t accurate I don’t know what is?
The only appeal the 6 and 6 plus had was larger screens. Nothing they did was close to be being better. Apple Pay at the time was in its infancy post launch.

The 6S was the true successor the the 5S. The A9 was a force to be reckoned with, camera, ram, second gen Touch ID, stronger body, 3D Touch, and always on Siri were the beast we waited for.

I feel like as of the last few years apple has duped us into buying the “latest device.”

The 7 series is by far the worst offenders though. The gimped quad core A10 Fusion is a waste. I mean you can only use two cores at a time, which the two high performance cores were barely any faster than the A9.
Zip along to the 8/Plus/X and you have the A11 Bionic utilizing all 6 cores and pretty much obliterating all chipsets out there. Now the A12 comes and to be honest, I don’t see the gains in speed except a fraction of a second faster in opening games.

I guess I’m trying to say every other year the last few releases hasn’t been that great.

I said the 6S was a much better phone than the 6/6+ which was underpowered and offered no performance boost over the 5S only increased screen size..I think your agreeing with me?

My 6s is doing well. Running the latest iOS. Battery is kind of weak. I stream tunein at work. It’s in the 50% range by noon. Definitely not a snappy is the newest phones I’ve played with at Best Buy. I want a larger screen, have been contemplating a used 8+ or the Xr. I’m not sure I’m ready to give up the home button. However the Xr feels a bit better in my hand.

I went from 6s plus to 8 plus. 8 plus is a great phone. Much better screen and the a11 is rapid.

Bought a spare 8+ in addition to my current 6S+ too... same reason as cableguy84 - main reason was because I didn’t want a notch phone as I watch a lot of YouTube videos.

Although largely the same experience, noticeable improvements I felt going to the 8+ is the taptic home button, the feeling of haptic feedback through the OS, and the stereo speakers are much MUCH better than the single bottom-firing speaker of the 6S+. Improved camera is also good to have if you take a lot of photos (I don’t).

Just got an iPhone XS Max at launch and fully intend to keep this sucker until I can’t stand it anymore. How are those of you in older devices doing?

My 6s is doing great.
The only way they'll get it is to remove it from my cold dead hands!

Just upgraded from my 6 to the Xr. What I size difference! But the amazing battery life of the Xr excuses everything. Send my 6 to Apple for the battery replacement as long as it is possible. Now restored everything, charged it till 50% and switched it off for long term storage (you have to recharge every 6 month). It always good to have a spare phone in case something happens....

Recently attempted an upgrade from my trusty 6s to an XR. The XR was a very nice phone. But it was big and heavy compared to the 6s, and for what I do on the phone (I do not live my entire life through it) the XR did not seem faster than the 6s. So back the XR went. I don't need to be annoyed by the size and weight AND for that privilege pay $30+/ month for two years.

My 6s remains my daily driver. Near the end of two-year AppleCare, about six months ago, I went to Apple to get the battery replaced (if not for free then under the $29 special), figuring that would give the phone extended life. But they screwed up the display somehow during the battery replacement, and they ended up giving me a brand new 6s. Not a refurb/white box, but brand new. The phone is fast and smooth as silk under 12.1.1, so it'll be around a while. I like new tech about as much as anyone (but not a LARGE phone fan), but:

iPhone 7,8 -- they look the same, what's the point (and no headphone jack)?
iPhone X -- I never buy a release after the "S" version arrives
iPhone XS -- GREAT but minimum $999+$149 Applecare+$100 NYC sales tax=$1,248!! (for the min 64GB) -- N O T HAPPENING
iPhone XR -- too big and heavy.

So it's the 6s for me until it busts.

Luckily the hardware inside these phones have come along so far that even a few years later they still run awesome!

I think you can live fine with the 6s because it has already 2 GB RAM which runs very good with IOS 12.x. My 6 was noticeable limited by the 1 GB RAM so I had to upgrade to the Xr. The bulk is disturbing but the battery life is a kind of equal exchange for it....

I had 6s since the beginning but I was 100% sure I will switch to the Max this year. Not sure if it's because they replaced my 6s with a refurbished one (with the Samsung processor instead of TSMC) or because I have an iFixit battery, but my device is quite slow and the battery doesn't last that long. Reading from other people, their 6s-es are still fast and working.

The camera, display and battery were the three main reasons why I got the Xs Max.
