iPhone 11 Pro How are you charging your phone?

You have to charge the 11Pro...? H ;) aven't noticed yet.
My battery never went below 80% with my usage habits, I get a few WhatsApp messages here and there, 1 hour of phone calls, around 20 emails, and listening to music for 1.5 hours.

Why do I charge? I love seeing it at 100% all the time, the standby time on this iPhone 11 Pro is insane (most background apps turned off except WhatsApp and Gmail)

5W overnight or iPad brick as needed. Never had battery issues but rarely keep a phone 2 years.

I typically charge overnight. It’s the only time when my phone isn’t in some sort of use. Never any issues. Not going to start fretting over it either.

Generally speaking, is it better for long term battery health to try and get the most out a full charge and then plug in again? Like, start from 100% and then wait until you're down to 10~15%, plug in again and start all over?

I've always been in the habit of constantly topping off my battery whenever i'm near a charger. I just wonder if that constant topping off is bad for the battery over the long run, or does it really make any difference?

This seems to be one of those topics where you'll likely get a lot of different theories and opinions.

Current best practise for li-ion batteries is to keep them between 20-80% charge as much as possible, and avoid constant, extended lingering between 0-20% and 80-100%.

This is why iOS 13's smart charging waits at 80%.

great, thank you

I used to charge mine everynight but since having the iPhone 8 and the better battery i try not to charge it unnecessarily i'll plug it in when it gets to about 5% wired or wireless

great, thank you

And it works after a couple of weeks, and it optimising every night to get closer to my regular pattern. Overnight on a Qi charger (now limited to 5w by iOS). Clever Apple...

I have wireless charging stands on my nightstand, and on my desks at work and at home. The phone is usually on one of them, including overnight, unless I'm out and about. It's plugged in while in my car for CarPlay. I've done this for every iPhone that's supported wireless charging. Yes, there are plenty of days where I'm nowhere near a wireless charging stand from when I get up to when I go to bed, and I always have beast battery life. I didn't know people even still thought about charging since we moved away from NiCad batteries for phones....

Don’t need theories or opinions. Just go to battery university and read what true battery engineers say about how, when, to charge/discharge and what does or doesn’t affect battery longevity. There is a lot of bogus info spread around. Physics doesn’t care about popular misconceptions.

11 pro here. I charge it with the 18W charger to 100% before going to bed... Every two days... The battery life on this phone is incredible. Even on day two when I'm finally plugging it in I'm still at around 40%. I could get a third day out of it but I don't like letting my battery get below 30%-40%.

Hmm, I got my new 11 pro on launch day and I charge it wirelessly overnight every night. I have switched on the Optimised Battery Charging option but so far my phone has not learned my charging pattern. Do others have the same problem?

Mine good a good couple out weeks to learn enough to start optimising. I didn’t get a message though to say it had started, it just did.

Overnight when going to bed by a wireless charger thingymabob.

In the car with a lightning cable and Apple CarPlay.

Where this battery shines is on days I take the bus! Amazing stuff!!

I used a wireless charger, changed ever night hardly ever let it get below 20% and the stupid battery is at 93%. I'm using a year old 8+. I've went back to wired charging; plugged into a USB port on a surge protector not an official cord though. Now since the 13 update though I'm having to charge my battery during the day and sometimes before bed time and no change in usage. So go figure.

Wireless pad on my desk at work. Wireless pad on my nightstand. Plugged in while driving for CarPlay.

Between those three things, haven't even come close to low battery.

I have always charged overnight. I used a 5W Apple USB adapter prior to the iPhone X two years ago, since then I charge with a 5W Qi wireless charging pad. I also plug in a lot in the car for Apple CarPlay - maybe 30 minutes a day or so on my commute.
My iPhone X was at 89% battery health after two years. I am hoping to get some better results on my 11 Pro with the optimized charging in iOS 13.
Although, it is not super expensive to have Apple replace the battery out of warranty if necessary I don’t think...
