What can the government charge you......property tax?

Ok, you need water and a way to cook. You can buy the water, but can you cook on a boat? What about using the toilet?

No, the slip fees just got amazingly expensive.

You have water tanks on board (I had 80 gallons worth) and I had a refirgerator and propane stove and oven. Cooking's just like at home. Toilet? I had a hand pump toilet thet emptied into a holding tank. A city boat came around once a week to empty it. I usually used the marina's showers - just easier.

But iGary, with no permanent address, how would all your Apple couriers find you? How would you fit that 30" ACD on board, sailor? How would you get the internet?

Ahhhh! So many questions!

-I have been described as the male version of Daria

Aside from a couple of extreme blizzards - fine.

I had propane heat and supplemented that with electric heat when necessary. I think I was cold one night out of 11 years.

How does one come to live in Japan?

Here is the process (minus the little nit-picky bits)

1. Graduate from Uni
2. Get working holday visa
3. Get on plane
4. Get off plane
5. Get a job
6. Enjoy the country, culture and people so much get a full-time working visa
7. 12 years later still here

I don't think it is necessarily individual attributes that make us different from everyone else, since many people have those same attributes - rather, I believe it is the sum and combination of those features which makes us all truly unqiue.

is it ths sum of those features? or the manner in which you use to express and use those attributes? personally i'd go with the application of ones' personal attributes is what makes them unique. because we all choose different paths.;)

;) you know you and i have always agreed on this kinda zen/buddhist way of looking at things.

does that make us unique together? or are we just conforming?

[pondering] if something has to be unique, does it have to be an individual characteristic defined by one individual and not shared by others, or can it be mutually exclusive to one group so long as they do not have a majority in the population thus making them unique in that they do not conform to the standards of others. [/pondering]

edit: this is why i almost minored in philosophy.

if you'd taken the time to major in it, would you have figured out the answers to all your questions? :p

no, which is why i wouldn't have ever majored in it. but having a minor in it would have satisfied some of the ponderings i have about certain things. and would have given more some more tools to explore the ideas and implications with. but as it is i have a degree in english and a minor in history. i'm happy with that... for now.
