Noticed when typing messages on Facebook the send button disappears when using split keyboard. Comes back if you dock the keyboard again. Guess apps need to cater for this still.

its just not natural... normally i can get away typing without having to look at the keyboard, but with the split keyboard, it takes more focus on the actual letters.

ergonomically = good
efficiency = meh

I think you just have to learn to trust the autocorrect. Gets a lot easier. Also much easier in portrait.

To be honest, the split keyboard almost obviates the need for a wireless keyboard for me. I can type for extended periods in portrait mode.

Access "B" from the left side of split keyboard

As the subject says, I was wondering how other people were getting on with the new split keyboard? So far I like it a lot, it's really handy for writing text without having to place my iPad on my lap or a desk. I'm using it right now in fact!

The only problem I've got is that the "B" key is on the wrong side. I've used a MS Natural keyboard for years and unfortunately they put the "B" key on the left hand side. Does anyone know if you can change that?

I noticed that even though you only see the "B" on the right, you can access it from either side. Just type where the "B" should be immediately to the right of the "V" and it will type a "B" or at least it does on my iPad. Pretty cool, I love the split keyboard, especially since I figured this out.

WOW, I completely forgot about this being added to iOS 5 :eek:. Going to take a bit of getting used to, but it seems OK so far.

My speed and accuracy has definitely improved, but I doubt I will ever get the hang of it. Which is why I ordered a zaggfolio to go with my iPad. :)

Why can't I get my split keyboard to work? I went to setting selected it or an off but it's still the same!

I'm testong it ighy now. Oh god. :)
Well I wanted to type "I'm testing it right now". You see the result :D

I don't use the split keyboard as I've become extremely proficient typing on the full keyboard in landscape mode. I do with though that there was level of customization available (or better, the use of third party keyboards).

I like it a lot when I'm typing and not able to put the iPad on my lap or any surface. As far as the standard keyboard being limiting; having never used another tablet before the iPad for longer than a "store demo" test, I can't say I find anything wrong with it. However, I can certainly see how much I'd like to have a row of numbers. I do type a lot on my iPad as is.

When they first announced it for iOS 5, I thought I would love it, but I just don't. I would much rather type like I would normally type on a keyboard. Much easier for me.
