This is sick.

You should be using a computer to be productive and have fun. It's not the computer itself that should be the focus, but what you can do with it.

What groundbreaking new things can you do with the new macbook pro that you can't do with something on the market now?

I cope with the fact that the new macbook pro isn't out yet by doing kickass, entertaining, and productive things with the PC I built 6 months ago.

I'm coping because I have to.

I need a new computer. My apartment burned recently, and I lost everything, including my computer. I decided to replace my PC with a Macbook (for the added income opportunities...I fix computers for a living, and supporting Mac means more chances to make money), and I'm waiting. I think there will be a significant refresh soon, and I'm willing and able to wait a couple of months for same. Sure, I'd love to pull the trigger now, but it would be better if I wait. If end February comes around without new Macbooks (a surprise, to be sure), I'll buy what Apple has. But, in my circumstance, waiting is the best play.

what is the OP talking about? IS he going to be purchasing his first Mac, or is he keeping up with the Jones's?

Perhaps not so much with keeping up with the Jones's as the anticipation of new product advancements and smelling his freshly opened box. I must confess I am looking forward to the new versions also, but my 2.4 Ghz MBP purchased June 2007 just came out of repair for a new super drive and is working flawlessly, and since it has both versions of the fire wire ports I am in no hurry to actually buy. I wouldn't mind seriously considering a new version MBA though.

Meanwhile I am playing with my latest little toy to keep me amused; eyetv hybrid, once activated on the MBP is actually allowing me to go anywhere away from home and watch all of the cable TV channels I have at my home either with a wifi hotspot or 3g, on my iPhone 3gs, not pre-recorded but live via live3g. Other than an occasional crash it seems to be doing well. Bought eyetv hybrid from the Apple store a few weeks ago. Looks like this is a purchase I will not regret, but I digress, sorry. Watching live TV on an iPhone is new to me...especially when it allows me to watch/record HD channels that aren't listed on my TV at home on my MBP or iPhone.

I am also waiting to take the plunge and get my very first Mac :)

You think the coping is hard normally? Try giving up smoking as the only way to justify the credit option for a new MBP :p

10-20 % performance improvement or not on the new version, it should add 14 years to my life expectancy. Great value :apple:

I future-proofed my investment for years so couldn't care less about a slight speed bump.
