Well I think it's obvious that AT&T isn't fairing very well on this ranking. Apple is even tired of them.

That is only in comparison to Verizon.

When compared to the rest of the world, AT&T's network came out to be the third fastest in the world in terms of 3G iphone speed (Wired.com survey). When compared to the other G7 countries, AT&T has the second cheapest iphone plans. When compared to the rest of the world, AT&T offers the largest data allowance for the iphone (5 GB per month).

in Indonesia, it's only from Telkomsel ( meh, no one will know anyway ) but they are pretty good phone service company here

3G is great, my friend can load macrumors inside 5 seconds

they are actually over pricing iPhone here, but they do give a nice package like free 1 Gig of internet / month for 1 year and stuffs

well, Apple products is actually pretty well known here, but since many people here cant afford the price, so it's sad that not much ppl using iPhone or any other Apple products

you dont see alot of people use iPhone here, this country have been overtaken by the BlackBerry virus

oh and as for the price, 16Gig is 11 Million IDR and 8Gig is 9 Million IDR

not sure about the 3GS

* US$1 = roughly 10.000 IDR - you do the maths :D

In the UK: iPhone very popular, o2 are a pile of dog poo! Bad 3G coverage unless, you are in a big city.

From what i have seen iPhone isnt very popular here in the UK.
o2 coverage is terrible also

Coverage is subjective  I loooove O2 with all my little heart.

The iPhone is reasonably big here. I'd also say that we have the best contracts of any country I have seen selling the iPhone. How does 600 mins, 500 texts and unlimited data for $50 a month sound, cost of phone (16gb 3GS) is about $130 US.

Wow, I think the O2 contracts suck ass, so god help the other countries.

As for how big it is, I don't see loads of them about but when I use mine people are all "is that an iPhone?" so people are definitely aware of it. If it was on par in terms of outright cost and contract cost with the touch screen 12MP camera phones Samsung etc are pumping out then it would probably be incredibly popular.

Australian iPhone customers have the best experience cause of the nationwide Next G network.

"The Next G Network is also the fastest cellular network in the world, delivering theoretical network speeds of up to 21Mbit/s, and is planning to increase the speed up to 42Mbit/s in 2009."

Telstra and Optus are the best carriers.

Yeah except Telstra charge the same as optus for less than a third of the data downloads.

It might be fast but the iPhone won't go over 3.6Mbps and it's priced waaaaay too high. Embarrassingly high. Obscene in fact. People still laugh at how pitiful they are.

Yup, they are. Unfortunately they can only give you the code after 12 months. It's good though because now I'll be able to use my iPhone with a different sim whenever I travel.

you should call them up again.. probably the operator has no idea what s/he was talking about.

iphones aren't unlocked using a code like other phones..

and as far as I know, Movistar refuses to unlock iphones at all

the iPhone in Canada:

Quote:
"... the iPhone is the most popular Smartphone in U.S.A. and Canada and accounted for 50% of all Smartphone sales, reported TMCnet...." (June 12, 2009) IP Communications.

In Canada, all iPhone sales are handled exclusively through Rogers and FIDO
(the Canadian Apple store is not allowed to sell iPhones).
The carriers insist upon a THREE year contract.
I would describe my usage as "modest"; i am required to pay at least
$80 per month, with virtually no long distance calls involved.
Roaming charges in the U.S. are extremely expensive, bordering on the
prohibitive. (a previous Nokia not-so-smart phone used to cost me about
$35 per month with roaming included.)

There is no upgrade plan available for those with 3G phones (even if you offer to buy out your contract). There is, however, talk by the carriers of selling an unsubsidized iPhone 3G s, but so far, no price has been announced... and it is not known how expensive service rates might be for such a phone.

On the plus side, the 3G network appears to work well nationally...
and MMS and tethering will be available immediately, this week.

Two new cellphone service providers have announced that they intend
to offer Canadians better service and terms and are strongly interested in offering more enlightened service to iPhone owners. One is called Dave Wireless (based in Montreal and about to change its name); the other is Globalive Wireless which set up a forum on its website inviting Canadians to describe what features they want most from a cellphone carrier.
Over 100,000 Canadians have visited the website and posted more than
10,000 comments. Hardly any were satisfied with "the way things are":

Most Common/Popular Comments:

- Incorporate 'System Access Fees' into the overall plan
- Add features such as Voicemail and Caller ID to the plans - Don't
charge extra for them
- Offer unlimited Data
- Don't bind customers with contracts
- Don't charge for incoming text messages
- Enable the use of phones for more than just calls, browsing, and
texting; such as point of sale integration
- Offer better solutions for roaming and long distance charges while
traveling.

It's the third operator that has said the same thing to me. I actually called to unlock a Nokia I have sitting around and took the opportunity to ask about the iPhone again. They actually have to send me a carrier update to my phone and install it through iTunes, right? We'll see what happens next month....

Yes, the exact reason I didn't go with Telstra.

IMO the only people that have telstra are those that are on business plans or their employer pays the bills.
