I think the reason I was disappointed was that in the whole year that Apple had to upgrade the hardware/software, very few things actually changed.
Apple is basically saying that since the battery is better, we can add 3G/GPS that should have been there in the first gen.
So iphone 2.0 turns out to have just fixed the mistake of the headphone jack and the addition of mobile me.
I would guess that at most, 10% of iphone purchasers will also get mobileme.
So for 90% of users, nothing of significance was added on iphone2, that wasn't expected a year ago on iphone1.
I'll still be making a purchase on July 11th.
