Well, there are around 12 houses on my street, so basically the only traffic are the people that live on the street, the mail man, the mail men (I would like to say that literally everday Aireborn Express delivers something to my neighbors house), and the garbage truck.

At my beach house however, zillions of cars zoom by at 7:00 in the morning to get to the beach parking lot before its full. When the parking lot is full cars continue to zoom down the road and get turned away so they zoom back. Its a pretty busy road, particularly in the morning, around lunch time, and around 3:00-4:00

I live on Ashland Ave here in Chicago. It's one of the main arteries of the city. I hear ambulances all night and police cars, I love it. :) It actually puts me to sleep. When I go back to my parents' place in Ohio, I can't sleep. It's too quiet and too dark. I sleep well in NYC too.
Me too!!! Maybe because I was born in Brooklyn, lived in Manhattan, and now live in downtown Montreal. But even though we live on a cul-de-sac in a highrise, the street attracts frolicking university students, usually only in September.

I think there are about 60 houses in my neighborhood, and the only outlets are my street and another. They go to the same street, about a 1/4 mile apart. The thing is, being a somewhat affluent suburb (I think my parents probably make the least of anyone here), we get moderately luxurious SUVs and minivans doing 45-50 down my street (posted at 15, I limit myself to 25-30 max), and completely ignoring the stop sign a house down from me. Now, granted, I don't come close to completely stopping there either, as there's no cross street, but I do slow down more with my car than with my bike when I go through.
And then sometimes, we get packs of teenager-ishs roaring down the street at 11pm on quads and dirt bikes, with no lights on, at 60mph. Could be worse, the lady who own(s/ed) the field and other undeveloped land at the end of my street wanted to put in 60 more houses, without adding any more outlets. Yeah, double the traffic on a residential street, GREAT IDEA!

I live in the very back of a condominium complex so there are maybe 2-3 cars per hour at the most, and almost nothing throughout the night.
