But imho, I'd wait. An update is coming VERY soon and you dont want to be kicking yourself for not waiting.

People have been saying this since at least October... It's getting hard for me to wait especially when I need a new laptop for school to use Logic Pro and Final Cut ... How can I justify buying a Current Macbook Pro??

1) I don't currently have a laptop.

2) The software which are course requirements only run on MacOSX.

If i wait any longer than a couple more weeks I will become seriously hampered by lack of laptop.

Damn you jobsy I already hate apple but I want it...

buy a used low end macbook for as cheap as u can, resell it when the new ones come out

you should lose minimal amount of money on the deal if any (could make money if u get the right deal)

Also, if the next update doesnt suit you, you will have a machine to use until one comes along that does

How about buying a used mac mini until the updated mbp?

I'm pretty sure the updates are not too far off. Its way overdue especially since the i5/i7 has been around since last october.

Where'd you get this deal? I'd probably go for that. Early reports on battery life with the few arrandales on the market are showing that they aren't as efficient and battery life is going down.

eBay for $250 under retail. No tax and Bing cashback of 8%. AppleCare from Apple using my student discount. I probably could have saved another $100 on AC but I didn't want to risk it on eBay with all the fraud going on.

I effing hate you. All of you. Not really. :)

At what's probably the very last minute before my MBP went into assembly over in China, I cancelled the damn order. It pretty much stemmed from learning that my CTO machine couldn't be returned, at which point I started considering my options. If the Mar 16th release actually happens, I'd still have time before my must-have-a-100%-functioning-computer date to get the new one.

I swear, it's a disease. Luckily my 3,1 is hanging in there with no major issues so I'm not in an immediate hurry.

It felt so damn good to order it and be done with it but NNNOOOOOOO!!! I had to go overthinking.

Bah.

unless u can find a GREAT discounted deal on the new current spec'ed macbook pro, it would be a pretty bad investment not to wait just a tiny bit longer.

The justification for many may include the size of the MBP. It seems like at the 13" size there are few if any competitors that can match specs, weight and price.

if they aren't gonna use it for OSX, then there is no justification for buying
