How can I tell whether Iphone is unlocked officially?

no none are unlock software, but can u do me a favor and go back to manage and click the button in the right, and itll ask u if ur a developer or a user? or commandline. i forgot the three options but pick the one iwth no restrictions, so u can see all packages because it looks like u have quite a bit missing from cydias install that should be there even

Ok this is what I see when I use "unrestricted" option:

It wont make a difference.
You actually need a simcard in to activate it after a restore.

No, dont upgrade to official 4.0
If you're JB now with an untethered JB you can create a custom 4.0 IPSW with pwnage and restore to that with itunes.

Yes, but on step 6 select yes.
If your phone is factory unlock you can activate with any simcard.

also if its factory unlocked after the restore you should get a message like "congradulations your iphone is unlocked" or something similar to that.

So before I go through this I should just try the restore through Itunes to check whether I am officially unlocked?

Oops I think I am stuck... after the restore the Itunes says: The SIM card inserted in this Iphone is not supported...etc." What do I do??? Any way out? Thanks.

Its not factory unlocked.
Just create another custom IPSW with Pwnage and restore to that.
But this time select NO on step 6.

You dont go to cydia.
Just create another IPSW with pwnage tool.
Then restore to that new firmware thru itunes.

But how do I restore that now, Itunes is not even letting me access the phone? Just gives me the option to "Eject"

Ok I have managed to restore to new modified firmware without carrier lock. The iphone reset etc and was alive again. But now I don't see my carrier? I can't make any phone calls. Any help? Thanks in advance.

Did you install ultrasnow from cydia yet to unlock it?
Its still locked untill you do, just activated thats all.
