This is normal because the Air has less available RAM than iPad 3 or iPad 4, because of the 64 bit CPU apps need 20-30% more RAM to run.

Im not convinced. More ram is great but its not a necessity. I havent had a single problem with video on my ipad air so far. The only thing that gives me trouble is sites like huffpo with their ****** javascript that isnt optimized correctly. It crashes and freezes up on my mac and windows 8 pc for work.

Yep that's why he's having the problems. Has nothing to do with how bad iOS 7 is optimized. NEED MORE RAM MORE1!!!1!!!!1!

I am surprised no one has said this, these problems sound familiar to me, they haven't lasted long....probably because I've always found ways around it (different apps) or I update the OS..eitherway its a software problem not a hardware problem. But try your luck replacing it, you never know.

I was simply stating a fact. And the FACT is that iPad Air has LESS available RAM than the iPad 3 or iPad 4.

Thus applications close quicker, less video can be cached, tabs have to be reloaded frequently etc....

And ipad 2 / mini have less ram than the air. Don't see many ipad 2 / mini users complaining they can't play video etc do you? What iPads have sold the most?

Your comments are so off I have to seriously wonder if you are trolling. I have used every beta of iOS 7 on both iPhone and iPad and have none of the issues you describe.
No issues playing video in Browsers, You Tube, or anything else.
You say browsing the internet is "buggy" whatever that means because the only example you give is video which I have no issue with and nobody else seems to either.
Btw its not 2014.
I use Apple Maps all the time with no issue and I travel frequently. Give some examples because I'm not buying it. Plenty of people use it without issue.
Yahoo as default browser? What does that mean.
Mail app works great so again no idea what you are on about there.
Plus the more I read the less credibility you have because you are obviously here to cause problems.
Google Now and Siri are not the same thing although they perform some of the same functions and Google Now is also on Apple devices...
Yeah I'm calling this an Android user trying to spread fud. I don't think you have an iPad Air or have used one.

So I finally convinced my work to buy me an iPad Air. It's pretty cool, but browsing the internet is soooo buggy. It's really frustrating. I tried using it in bed, but I gave up and switched to my laptop :(

For instance, when I try to watch videos, nothing freaking works. When I hit play, there is a 25% chance it plays. Most often, it doesn't even register that I hit the play button. If I rotate the iPad Air, it has to reload the entire video. And if I pause, rewind, or fast-forward? The video just breaks. Every single time. And I have to reload the entire page, losing whatever progress I've made in downloading it to begin with. One time I paused it and the sound stopped working. I mean, come on... you can't even write an internet browser that works in the year 2014??? I had an iMac that was less buggy than this...

This made me realize - Apple used to release great software (OSX anyone?), but they've fallen off in the last few years. iOS7 is buggy and not ready for primetime. The iPhone is using Apple Maps (a complete disaster), Yahoo as a default browser (huh?), and their crummy Mail App. Meanwhile, Google Now is absolutely killing Siri. For some reason, Apple thinks they can compete with Google in big data applications (mapping and voice) - they don't have a clue. Meanwhile, they're releasing half-assed software updates and crippling their ecosystem with inferior products.

It's a little disappointing. The iPad Air has really nice hardware, but the software is difficult to use. They don't seem to care about the user experience anymore (for instance, who uses Apple Maps?). I wish they'd get their act together and start releasing quality products (hardware + software) again.

More ram is not needed. Give an example why you think this because I know you can't. Also you sound like yet another person that thinks ram on a tablet with a mobile os is the same as on a desktop, It isn't.

I was joking :/ Should I use more 1's next time :)?

I'm still using ipad 2 with 512mb of ram so I don't get all these complaints with 1gb even if 64bit uses more...it still works out more than ipad 2. Besides, if its that big of deal to use 64bit there will be 32bit 'workarounds' (i.e different browser apps) sooner or later.

Top lel buddy, most of the mini users are complaining their tabs keep reloading due to lack of RAM.

Yet it still sold amazingly well? And ipad air is still an upgrade in ram even if it isn't 512mb extra...

Is it enough? Probably not. But it will never be enough.

The reloading tab since Ipad 1 already have complain and since iPad 1 we have ram increase from 256mb to now 1gb and yet people still complaining the same thing.

So do you really think ram is the real issue here or it is part of IOS design?

Its both actually. If you understand how iOS works, you know what i mean.

yes i do know what you mean.

but I never find the reload to cause me any issue. cause even safari dont reload i will reload myself for the update and in fact i more then happy with the auto reload for latest content.

Wow clearly the problem must be me... Sorry for being so down but i was just so frustrated

And yes I mean yahoo as search not browser obviously

Yes I have used apple maps.... I'm forced to use it because yelp won't integrate with google maps on my phone. And I hate it

Love OS X but not a fan of iOS apparently... The video I'm talking about is YouTube and other sites like daily show Colbert etc

Reading plain text is fine, it's just the video that's driving me crazy , and all the stuff I posted IS true, all those things happened

Might be an isolated problem though...

These things take a little while and a little experimenting to really fit into your work flow.

But once you find a groove it's better than a laptop IMHO

But really, it took me quite a while to figure it out.

I did a restore of an iTunes backup; the restore went badly (long hang after copying apps), so I killed it. Most non-Apple apps wouldn't run, and Safari crashed once. The backup might have been from beta 6, just before clean install of GM 7.0.0; I had a more recent backup (Thursday/Friday just before purchasing the Air) but iTunes failed to find it.

So I did a full restore of iOS, and set up as a new iPad, re-installing all apps directly from the App Store. I just let iCloud sync what it normally syncs, but did all other setup and settings myself. I copied videos, music, and PDFs as usual for manual management of content.

Since then, it's been flawless with superb performance. I've now got it provisioned for development, and have done some light development and debugging on it. It's all good, best iPad ever, as long as I don't let iTunes manage it!

No probs here.. If you're running into issues - as others have said, I'd get that puppy swapped out ASAP.
