How Did Asians Get A Bad Rep For Driving?

I'm from Chicago where we've got incredibly bad Illegal Alien Drivers from all over the world.

People that emigrate here legally usually drive OK. -ish.

A lot of USA-born people drive bad. There's the usual Girl-on-a-Cellphone, Mr. Tough Guy, Speed Racer, Mr. Slick, Stoner, Town Drunk and Grandma.

But the Illegals..... They're the worst.

The Illegal Poles and Russians... Bad. They will back up at full speed in traffic for no apparent reason. Without looking first. Instantaneously crossing 3 lanes of traffic to turn "the other way". Poles have backed into me and a friend on 2 different occasions. VERY hard. At least they had Insurance.

Illegal Asians are bad. Not as insanely reckless as the Poles but excessively timid and clumsy. Maybe they're nearsighted? To their credit, Asians usually have Insurance. Also, they usually hit stuff relatively slow. At least all the ones that've hit people I know did.

But the Illegal Mexicans.... They take the prize. Driving on sidewalks, on the grass, on the wrong side of the street, swerving all over the road, never even slowing down for "Stop" signs or stoplights, they NEVER have insurance or even "real" license plates and my personal favorite:

Crossing over into oncoming traffic to get around cars stopped at a stoplight!
I saw one do this in a little Honda.... He got hit VERY hard by an oncoming large truck. Splat. Truck 1 Honda 0.
I hope the truck driver didn't get hurt.


Oh Well, that's life in a "Sanctuary City".

Avoid the beat-up cars with "Temporary" license plates,

Sheesh! I go 5 over the limit all the time and people want to kill me!

PPS. Probably the ones with Insurance have some legal status.

I lived in Asia for almost 9 years (not Asian myself).

And while stupidity and bad drivers knows no racial or geographic boundaries, there is a nugget of truth to this "urban myth".

I'm half Asian myself and just recently moved to the San Gabriel valley where there is a large Asian population. Theyre not necessarily bad drivers, but slower than molasses!! They drive 25 in a 35-40 mile zone, they stop at the light and leave literally 1 large suv length between them and the crosswalk or the car in front of them. They sit at stop signs like they're waiting for a car to drop out of the sky into the intersection, gotta honk to wake them up and they always have this DUH, look on their face, they slow down way under the speed limit if there is a cop on the road, they can't seem to park very well either, they drive like they're scared to drive and it's annoying as hell!!! I'm constantly having to just, go around them. I say park it if you can't drive it!!

Well I was in Melbourne for a week and I envy their driving ethics. Back here in Malaysia, everyone is on a rush for some reason, constantly going above the speed limit.

In some stretches of highway, speed limits are mere roadside decoration.

What do you mean Asians? All grannies of all ethnicities need to start doing at least the speed limit.

Seriously old farts need to stay out of the left lane. The worst thing to happen is when the grannies take up all the lanes and give you no room to pass (happens a lot here).

And if you speed up to not let me over, when I clearly have signals on, I'll go into your lane anyway, whether if it's wrong or right, and I don't care if my insurance goes up because of it, I feel gratification from not letting an ******* be one.
