Anybody asked yet: how’s the BASS?
To me, the reproducing low frequencies has always been the most important thing with headphones.
Ever since I got the yellow walkmans in the 80’s, which headphones had no bass at all...

Sennheiser Momentum = waaaaaay better than these two

This isn’t a fair comparison, nor relevant, the price of the Sennheiser momentum’s is $350, that’s more than double the AirPods cost, and naturally the sound would be much better on that product, but you’re also not factoring the Sennheiser‘s are over the head earphones without any water resistance, in addition the Momentum’s are not geared towards gym/fitness at all, as the Powerbeats/AirPods are in that respect if you paid attention at all to the marketing.

As a side note, both AirPods and Powerbeats Pro have beamforming microphones so they sound great when using them for phone calls.

What do you mean by this? When people talk with Airpods on conference calls, it's awful. The quality is much worse than if you were talking via a wired mic or the phone itself.

Are you saying that the Powerbeats Pro mic sounds the same as Airpods here from the listener side?

As gross as this sounds what about wax accumulation? No joke I have ruined two pair of airpods using them at the gym and they become caked in ear wax... Before you give me crap, I literally clean my ears daily I have this weird thing where if I see a q-tip I have to clean my ears...

My biggest gripe with my AirPods is no volume control. Along with that no dedicated volume for music SEPARATE from my iPhone sounds like notifications, in coming calls and alert sounds.

Actually you can.
Goto home screen press volume buttons (any 1) ... does it say “Volume”? If so then goto Settings > Sounds & Alerts> Ringer & Alerts:
Change with Buttons = ON
Now in iTunes when playing music on iPhone Volume buttons (or connected Keyboard will work).
Goto Home screen adjust volume and “Ringer” will display. One and done ;)

For me, volume control with the Apple Watch works quite well, even if music comes from iPhone.

A VERY handy feature (pun intended) ... which I absolutely love!

I don’t share your experiences, but do you clean your ears _before_ you go to the gym or the day before? I can’t imagine if you thoroughly clean them prior to using the earbuds, you shouldn’t be experiencing that type of build up if you clean them prior to any physical exercise/at the gym.

AirPods: available everywhere
PowerBeats Pro: available in one out of 4 colors in two countries (pre-order).

I have a sincere question, since when is an in-ear bud "traditional"?

Seems awfully expensive to be missing some pretty key features IMO. But of course I fell that way with the AirPods too.

Both are great products. I’m not a workout person, but I am active and the AirPods are perfect for me.
I always thought AirPods were underrated in sound quality. I bought some Bose earbuds (wired) and thought “wow, these sound like crap”. So I stuck with the bundled-in versions. I bought the AirPods and they sound GREAT. I don’t like noise-cancelling when I’m walking because I want to be able to hear people. They’re perfect.

Not pointless at all. Apple is selling the Powerbeats3, and the AirPods are proprietary, why wouldn’t someone want to see the difference between both offerings?Considering they both also have major differences as well. Not to mention, on an Apple related site like this, don’t you think it makes sense to actually compare the AirPods v.s. the competition?

I thought Apple owned the Beats brand? So is it really competition. Either way they (PB3s and PBP) are two completely different design types and this makes all the difference as to why a comparison would be helpful.
The PB3 and PBP have significant differences that should be reviewed and pointed out.
Lack of volume control
Must be charged in a rather large case instead of with a small cord
Even though the ear loop is comfortable and pretty secure, if it falls off you’re out of luck compared to PB3s where the cord would keep them together
Much shorter run-time per charge so charging more often
Price difference (can still get new PB3s on Amazon for $100).

I just want to know if the six hours of talk time for the PBPro is "three hours with a single headphone, and then three hours with the second headphone", or if it's six hours of stereo talk time. My current AirPods last, in stereo, 53 minutes before I get the 10% battery remaining warning; that's often not enough for a single conference call.

AirPods without wireless charging are $40 less expensive than AirPods with wireless charging.

Dan said that the difference is $50 at about three minutes into the video.

I bet some people are gonna use these just as gym / workout headphones and AirPods for their everyday ones. I like the idea of Powerbeats, but I wouldn’t want to wear these at work or when I’m out and about. They’re too big. Too noticeable. The clip looks a bit ugly. But I bet they’d work great for the gym or running a marathon. AirPods for everything else
