Preorder on Friday like the rest of us? I don't see why anyone would wait in line.

Im sure you guys are always seeing Kim Kardashian taking selfies in the mirror or even Ashton Kutcher is probably someone who is just as excited about the iPhone 6 as us considering he even played Steve Jobs in the movies.

I mean everyone from Mylie Cyrus to Jay Z to probable 80% of Hollywood uses iPhones so I wonder if Apple or AT&T give them special ordering privileges where they can get the phones sooner then the general public or maybe even for free.

I remember awhile back there were photos of Keane Reeves standing in line waiting for the 3G and so was Jason Bateman.

All I'm saying, if Justin Bieber Gets his iPhone 6 before I do I'm gonna be pissed! lol

If you pay $2000, a lot of ppl happy to sell their iphone to you, that's nothing for them

I remember a story about 'The Situation' (some douche from Jersey shore), rolled up to an Apple store on launch day of one of the phones, went to the front of line and demanded he was served, then was quickly told to join the end the queue! Dunno how true it is, funny nonetheless!!

I'm not sure they make their assistants wait in line, it would take too much time out of them being the assistant. Most likely they just tell them they want the new phone on day 1 and the assistant goes on craigslist and buys one from someone at a premium. They can afford to over spend.

I'm pretty sure they have assistants that get it for them, unless it's gifted to them by Apple for promotional purposes (unlikely). Most rich people and celebrities have assistants that do everything for them.

Why is that unlikely, it seems pretty likely to me.

Yea. Howard Stern was talking on air about his excitement for the new phone this week (he's a big Apple geek) and mentioned that he'll be getting his on launch day. When asked how he was able to get one he said he wasn't sure and that 'someone did it for him' (referring to the online preorder on 9/12).

Must be nice.

I work directly for a very prominent pop artist and I can tell you there's no special privileges at all, just assistants who are on top of their game if she wants one on day one.

Samsung, however, literally shoves Gear Watches and Galaxy S5 combos down our throat - no joke. We have samsung reps showing up at our management office at least once a month trying to push her to use them in public.

Never saw a recent swag bag with an iPhone in it.

That said the only thing a celebrity does would be wiping certain body parts and brushing their teeth. Assistants & fans do just about everything else

I did some work with Samsung and they had a special team dedicated to giving celebrities the devices. It was a great marketing ploy really...

They had this team that would sit down with the celebrity and their assistant or whoever and give them a tutorial on the device and stuff. Then, they'd be seen out in public and it'd make the news a bit.

(this was during the original Note 3 and Gear launch)

They don't need "special privileges". I think they can simply pay someone to stand in line for them, or buy one for a large sum - which is chump change for them.

I have no idea but if any celerities are interested in a 6+ 64 gb white and gold? I Will glad give it up for about $1500.

A lot of times they "know someone" at apple, and get the products early (Early = after release date, but without having to wait for the pre-order mess). I've heard that this time was different with the 6+ because of the lack of inventory. But I've heard they mostly get it without having to send someone to wait in line. It is free marketing to have some silly Kardashian taking a naked selfy with it...

I wondered about this too. I figured Apple sent them free ones. If I was a star I'd have my assistant stand in line and give them the $ to buy one for themselves (as well as pay them for their time).

I bet Apple doles them out to celebrities. If every time Kim Kardashian's Instagram updates with her in another half-naked selfies, it makes a big difference if that Apple logo is there all the time. Of if you flip through US magazine and page after page of celebrity candids of them walking on the street carrying their iPhones... it DOES make a difference. Maybe not with anyone here, but definitely with John Q. Public who does not frequent tech forums. What does it cost Apple? 2,000 celebrities getting free phones at a cost of $200 each is $400,000. In terms of Apple's global marketing budget that it probably not even one-half of 1%. But in terms of return on marketing it is worth considerably more than they pay. Put it this way: What would Amazon pay to have every celebrity with an Amazon phone? They'd probably pay a fortune!

it seems as though apple doesn't need celebrity endorsement. I doubt they give them for free to celebrities. I'm going with the assistant route and still having to pay the retail price.

My question is, do they purchase apple care?? $800-900 is like $8 to us commoners ;)

I know from personal experience as someone who works in the entertainment industry that often times celebrities get to go to warehouses and pick out whatever they want.

I've seen first hand, when traveling with a 'celeb', us go into a warehouse, and this person pick out whatever apple product they wanted. This celeb and everyone in their crew got laptops, desktops, ipads & whatever they wanted and the major company that was acting as their unlimited bank would pay for this celeb to get these products. And no the major company wasn't apple paying for it.

Can't really go into specifics but people with $$$ rarely have to pay for ****.
