If putting from your finger to the button to unlock your screen is too onerous, you have a real problem.

I really don't know why people are continually suggesting anything at this point.
Seems like part of it is that we don't even know what device the OP has as the OP hasn't addressed that.

Well in his original post, he said he does not USE passcode or touch id, not that he doesnt have.
It's possible to infer something from that, but it's far from a given without actually knowing what device is in question.

Well…there's one reason. The courts have ruled that law enforcement can force you to unlock your phone using TouchID without a warrant.

The same does not apply using a passcode.

random solution, do not register the most obvious finger and be like oops wrong oops wrong oops wrong. After 5 tries it will require the passcode or simply turn it off quickly ;)

You could do like my mother-in-law. She turns off auto lock. Her iPhone never turns off, aside from when the battery dies, so she constantly charges it throughout the day. She complains about how crappy the iPhone battery is all the time, even though I've explained to her before exactly what the problem is and enabled auto lock. She just refuses to use it. She's deaf and therefore texts a ton. She switched from Blackberry a couple years ago and I think she left it on all the time too—but it's display was a lot smaller and since it's practically a dumb phone didn't use as much juice.

*A* court has. I disremember which one.

So reboot the phone when you get stopped. You have to input the passcode on a restart.
