How do I get AT&T to quit texting me?!?

OMG… I love that.. "just call them" I only signed up last month. TRIED calling yesterday. LONG story, but calls, once you get past the voice mail from hell, GO DIRECTLY TO INDIA!!!!! Where all they know how to say well is "I'm sorry for the inconvenience." OVER AND OVER AGAIN!
Can't get my name right, even when I correct her repeatedly.

best advice comes from my daughter. And this will take some patience…
But every time you get a message or text from AT&T… just hit "BLOCK CALLER."
They have a lot of numbers, hence the patience. (Trust me, it requires far less patience than trying to actually talk to someone who cares at ATT.)
Just block caller. Get another one? Block caller…. repeat.
It will stop eventually.

Make sure to check the date on post(s) you are responding to. This thread is 9 years old. At the time, the OP did not have texting in his plan.

No real need to resurrect this thread, in my opinion.

They are not free because I just got charged for them for the last 8 hours they have been texting me. As I said I am on PYP prepaid so it deducts from my account balance each time I get a text.

I chose prepaid so I could get a feel for AT&T coverage and service in my area before I locked myself into a 2 yr contract. Things like this will be a deal breaker.

In the UK, replying to texts with the word STOP does the trick.

Great rants. So glad we resurrected a thread that's 9 years old to discuss a topic that's no longer relevant and then switch to other topics simply complaining about a carrier.

Anything you have problems with you'd like to complain about? Taxes? Immigration reform? Subway discontinuing the $5 foot longs?
