All you have to do is take the sim out and pop it in a phone that has the my number option in the phone book [most nokia's do], then simply write in your number and it gets saved to the sim card and will show up at the top when you put it back in your iphone.

Anyone know how to do this on a Sony Ericsson?

Doesn't show up for me in either Phone > Contacts or Contacts app

Yes it does. If you open the contacts from the contacts icon on the home screen, you will NOT see your own number above the search box. But, if you open up the phone app, and then go to contacts from there, and scroll to the top PAST the search box, you will see your number above. Although it appears like there would be nothing above the search box, drag down and you'll see your number appear. I have no idea why it's in one place and not the other.

right ive tried doing the above on a sony ericcson k700i but this still doesnt change my phone number in the phone app, perhaps this is just happening to people who have had to port their number over to the iphone simcard?

Wish there was a simple way to sort this out, i done the option to try and change it through my old k700i and then restored my iPhone to see if that works, but nowt?

Any other ways to do this?

Er, well no, actually I have two simcards: One where the number is already set by the operator and it shows where I have described. The other sim is only for the iPhone and I have been able to insert the number onto this sim. Since entereing the number it shows on both SE 610 and iPhone

Yep, I just did this yesterday.

I used a friend's Razr, and it worked perfectly and only took 3 minutes tops. The hardest part was getting the battery out of her stupid phone.

I didn't have my phone number show up in Settings, in Contacts, or in my iTunes, but it now shows up everywhere, just like it's supposed to. It was never a big deal, but I had a few minutes and access to another phone, so I did it.

right, i done mine in my old k700i and it didnt work, but i done it the same way in my wifes SE w580i and it worked, YAY! all changed in the phone app of iPhone and in iTunes. Cool

Can it be done with a Samsung?

Okay, so on my First Generation iPhone, my phone number was conveniently listed at the top of the contacts list (above the search field). Now that I have an iPhone 3G, it's no longer there. How can I get this feature back? Also, I synced the SAME contacts with my 3G that I had on my original iPhone. Also, myself is listed in my contacts with my iPhone's phone number as my phone number, but it still won't display it above the contacts list.

My question is... do you have it? Do you know how I can get it back?

My iPhone 3G has it... I never did anything to get it, it was just there...

I am curious to know why having your own phone number at the top of contacts is important? Forgive me if I am being blind but I don't see the need to have my own number there, is it just because some have not memorized their own number? or is there some other purpose for this that I am missing.
